Don't track with Forgestar wheels...

This epic failure occurred after 14 track days…

I don’t think most people here would be fooled into thinking Forgestars are appropriate wheels for the track, but here’s a good example of what can happen with cast and “flow-forged” wheels.

The guy called them out on facebook and they called him within 5 minutes. They refunded him on the wheels and paid for a new ball joint. At least they have good customer service.

Wow thats crazy. I think its good customer service but dam thats crazy. It could have been way worse and what makes tracking the wheels much different then driving the car in harsh road conditions. I always liked the look of forged stars but I didnt know that was possible .Is that a normal thing

Thanks for putting that up

The guy was tracking his extremely heavily modified car really hard on R comp tires. He probably has bigger brakes that generate a lot of heat too. Even in his description for the video he states that all wheels are eventually going to fail but some last longer than others. It seems like he has the right attitude for tracking his car but he was lax about checking his wheels that one time and it bit him in the ass.

James Clay (Continental Tire series driver) said it best yesterday on FB: “Flow Formed, Rotary Forged, Squeeze Forged, Flow Forged, and a multitude of others aren’t FORGED.”

Wow thats nuts. Great post

For what it’s worth, Foregstar seems to only have a problem with these F14’s if you google it. Not saying they’re awesome, but it seems these in particular have a design flaw.

Noted. I guess that it is a good thing that I decided to make my F14s into winter wheels.

How did he pass tech with the cracked windshield?
