doors not unlocking by proximity

I have a 2007 S6 and im having an issue with my doors not unlocking when I walk up and grab the handle. It worked pretty well when I first bought the car. I have been having an issue with this for a few months now.
I have recently put a new battery in the car (not because of this) and also a new battery in the fob, and still no improvment.

Any one had this same issue?
Is there a way to test the functionality of the proximity locks with vagcom?

Thanks in advance.

This is going to be a really basic question, but did you reassign the key fob to your car again after replacing the battery? If the key fob isn’t assigned to your car again, then it won’t be connected and thus your issue.

Is it intermittent? Is it the same problem on all 4 doors and the trunk? When I first bought my car last year, it worked really well for me too. It would instantly unlock the door the moment I first touched it. Now I often have to leave my hand on the door handle for a second or two, and if I forget to do that, I end up jiggling the handle 3 or 4 times before it finally unlocks. But - it does unlock every time, eventually. Oddly, the trunk lid works better. I tried a new keyfob battery, made no difference, so I gave up, since it still works “ok”.

I have no reassigned the key.
Do we have that ability through vagcom?
The problem was happening before I changed out the FOB battery as well.

Mine started off intermittent, now it’s almost every time I have to hit the button on my fob to get it to unlock.
The range is still good on Jun locking and locking from a distance, and I have had no issues with recognizing the key is I the car.
And the lock button on the handle works from both front doors when exiting the car.

Try taking a light cleaning compound something that evaporates would be best and try cleaning just under the handle and on the back side of the handle. See if that dosent help. I found that sometimes if I have gloves on the auto unlock wont trigger on some cars. There is a chance that oil build up from your hands has collected on the pick up part of the senosr.

Just to make sure I say this. I dont 100% know how the sensor functions. Ill start looking more into it to make sure I have a better answer next time but for now thats the best I got

Haha, ok. I’ll check out the sensors. And I haven’t found anything on how to check the door with vagcom.
