Hey guys, is it just another “quirk” that occasionally when going wot at the top of 3rd (dynamic mode,) if I let off the gas (seems like it’s right at the time that it’s selecting 4th) I get a relatively violent jerk? It’s kind of hard to explain, all I can think is that it’s about to shift and then I let off the gas pretty abruptly and get a jerk/jolt. This transmission scares me.
Anyone? Anyone? Bueller?
Don’t lift off when it’s shifting?
The DSG is a great transmission.
Is this your first dual clutch transmission car?
boost, DSG can do weird things at times like you mentioned “quirks”… I don’t specifically recall what you are describing happen but can’t say for sure… Do you have a gopro? Get a video and I think we’ll be able to help more… I guess I’d also ask why are you WOT till the top of 3rd and then letting off, not trying to be a dick but that’s kind of odd driving IMO…
Exactly boost if you can get some video so we can see that might be helpful.
What might he happening is your letting off the gas and the gap between when your letting off the gas and when the shift happens are too close to each other. So what might be happening is you let off the gas but the car has already started the pre shift sequence. In the pre shift sequence the car isn’t shifting yet but it’s getting the pressures raised and starting the pre shift regime. Once the pre shift regime starts it won’t feel like the car is shifting but you pull your foot off the throttle the car still continues on its intended shift sequence thinking the car is under more load and the car is in upper rpm.
Did that make sense.
I don’t have a go pro and I believe that it’s more tactile then visual so I don’t think a video would do much good. And honestly, your explanation makes perfect sense. Dsg has already committed to the up shift when I let off. Feels like shit TBH.
While my Tranny isn’t a DSG, mine does the exact same thing after my JHM TCU tune. But i knew going into my tune that because it isnt a DSG that it may be a bit “harsh”.
