DSG Maintenance

Well,

Finally purchased the maintenance kit with both filters. Work getting done this weekend while I visit Montreal for Lè Formula 1.

I opted for the Redline fluid instead of the OEM. Whether that was the right decision or not is left to be seen. I have had nothing but positive results with all redline fluids I have used in my past vehicles.

Love ECS tuning and their pre packaged kits. Takes a lot of guess work out for the consumer, I simply added the extra filter to my order and went to checkout.

Nice! I just had mine serviced via Audi care and it feels like it shifts a little nicer to be honest… I didn’t have the miles but fluids still degrade over time… Looking forward to your thoughts after it’s done…

shame they couldn’t make a bigger bottle of the fluid. Frigging plastic is the devil.

Jeff, Spill the beans man! I noticed in your sig on vendorzine a 11.53 at 121.2! Why you holding out man? ;D

Details my man details! Congrats!

Believe I’m getting the DSG fluid change at my next Audicare service. 35k, right? (even though I’m only at 20k).

Yes, make sure you tell them… They did mine on 45K service because they forgot on 35K which in the end I was fine with because of miles…

BOOM! Jeff is the man!

^^ noted. thnx.

Nice! I’m debating whether I’m gonna try to do this on a Mk6 GTI. Seems like there is something dicey about making sure the temperature is correct.

Anyways, let us know how it goes and have fun at Forumula Un

Good choice on redline!
It’s the way to go.

Have had car back now for two days.

Initial Impressions:

Everything seems to run great. I don’t expect to notice much of a difference in daily driving. What I am keen on noticing it how it operates in hot stop and go traffic, full acceleration shifts, and the 1-2 shift.

I will check back after a bit and update with my findings. I have a very keen sense of how my car behaves and will notice the slightest changes.

So far, 1-2 seems better when the car has not fully come up to operating temperature. That is all I have “noticed” so far. Need more seat time.

I have had some seat time now after flushing the transmission fluid. Last night is was able to really hammer on the transmission and see how it is behaving.

Couple different scenarios

Full out accelerations

While this was already basically flawless, there was almost a slight delay between the 2-3 shift, however minute, I perceived it to be there. This is now gone.

Multiple downshifts:

Down shift while on the throttle, downshifting while under braking, and downshifting while off the throttle and brakes. Car seems a lot smoother in its transitions and sharper in its engagements. I can honestly say the car is shifting and doing what I request of it better than it ever has. This is with 58000 miles on the car.

Low speed daily driving:

For the 1-2 shift either manually or in auto/comfort/sport it is noticeably smoother. Abruptness which existed to some extent before, is virtually eliminated.

Overall assessment:

I changed my ATF fluid about 10,000 miles before it was recommended. I can honestly say I have a noticeable improvment in the behjavor of the transmission since changing the fluid. Whether this is because I used redline fluid, or simply because I flushed the fluid, hard to say. I can say that the redline fluid is working great, and I would recommend the product so far to anyone looking to save on the rather high cost of OEM fluid.

If it’s helpful. The switch to red line worked great for me. I had the same experience and noticeable results. I was shy of saying anything due to not having anything specifically scientific to back the results but your not alone and my transmission is a big 6 hp transmission.
