DSG tune from GIAC...

Should be interesting… I think they are early on and it will take a while… Wonder how much lower my 60’s can go from 1.622? Need a higher redline, faster shift and LC… Oh and paper being his usual self… lol

The GIAC tune must keep LC at the stock 3k rpm then. APR 2v2 launches at approximately 3800. Cool stuff, though - but I tend to agree that this will take a while to release. When did they announce the pulley? Over a year before debut, right?

I know it sounds weird, but I just don’t c LC helping our cars. I’m faster just mashing the pedal to the floor. Like prime said we need the higher rev limit, and faster shifts.

^^ Yes, 3800 on stage 1 as well. However, the initial version of your software tamed LC quite a bit from stock, even with the higher RPM launch. With version 2, that seems to have changed. Still didn’t beat my non-LC passes though at the track.

Arin - are you guys working on a TCU upgrade? What about APR’s B8 race program - is that using a stock TCU?

I’m really not ready to talk about any development but as far as the race car is concerned, it was a 6MT per the rules.

I’m most looking forward to a 7200 redline… Below are the #'s for 35 series tire for 19’s

7k redline
1st - 37 mph
2nd - 62 mph
3rd - 89 mph
4th - 117 mph
5th - 150 mph

7.2k redline
1st - 39 mph
2nd - 63 mph
3rd - 91 mph
4th - 120 mph
5th - 155 mph

Currently this would prevent the car from shifting to 5th right before the end of the 1/4 mile(except EC’s car ::)) and that by itself should net me a few hundreths… Won’t matter as much with the new blower as I am sure I’ll trap higher than 120… A 40 series tire could net around 125 in 4th so I may swap the tires after making some passes with the new blower but will see…

As for faster shifts not sure how much faster it can get but I guess will see… The whole not shifting at redline in manual mode is not that important to me but I would prefer to be able to hold a gear all the way to redline with light throttle application vs needing the car to be WOT or close to it…

LC will be good if done correctly… Current versions are more show then go IMO… They need to be 4500ish RPM and allow the blower to build boost if possible… 1.5x 60’s will be pretty wicked…

I know GIAC has a history of tuning trannys so that makes me feel better, would prefer HPA, but will see who hits the market first and what the offering is… Hopefully, APR jumps in the game?

Has JHM ever addressed the DSG tranny? I would trust GIAC and HPA more than anyone with DSG tunes as they have by far the most experience.

JHM I just need a beefy ass clutch for when I go stage 3 with a built motor :wink:

How are you going to build your motor? You think anyone is going to come out with upgraded pistons for our cars?

Im sure this may be true however dont forget the physics involved of torque required to move greater rotational inertia/conservation of angular momentum.

There is another tune hitting the market in the coming weeks… I was told I could come and get it done but given my td1 issues, i am a bit gun shy for that sort of thing (especially fussing with TCU) and as much as I want to it’s only a matter of time before this car is traded in.
