dSLR video discussion

I just bought a canon t2i to use as a travel camera as its super light and tiny compared to my 1 series canon bodies. I chose the t2i because it basically has the guts of the 7d but can be had for half the cost. Its second biggest draw for me however is full hd video.

so I’m just getting used to it and thought I’d ask if anyone else has stepped into the world of hd video with a dSLR

any advice on where to start? Any good accessories (I’m tempted to find a used glidecam) I should look at? Any good online tutorials?

looking forward to some nice videos from you soon.

I would invest in a stabilizer of some sort, glidecam seem to have good reports. There is now a stabilizer for the gopro’s which I will be looking at getting down the track.

The best member to ask about this sort of stuff is cellg8, he has made some great videos of his DTM S4

hopefully he chimes in

I’d like to speak to the guys who do MRC/TTS videos. They’re amazing. NisusHD I believe.

I am getting ready to head out to Toronto if you wanna try the camera out??? Bringing the wife’s 335.

They are very good, but they use a stack of rigs to pull those videos off

yeah, but the bulk of the footage is canon 5d II and 7d and EF lenses. I have pretty good lenses. Strike that I have very good lenses. Just need:

  1. some slow motion software.
  2. a steadycam type tool like that weighted glidecam or something.

…and of course some tips, tricks etc

i got the same camera as you now. . . but you know that. Looking forward to advice/tips/info/technique you can provide as well as the best accessories to get for it!

I’m really impressed with it. Hate the feel vs the 1 series bodies…cont. shooting is a laugh…but otherwise awesome

the video is such good quality. Looking forward to actually trying.

I’m currently looking for a glidecam HD2000

Yeah I saw that clip in your other thread, but yeah you definitely do need a glidecam

a friend has one (he’s a movie nerd) out in Vancouver and he loves it. He told me to look for a studio sale and pick one up used for half price. Don’t need a new one for sure…it’s a couple of things of metal that will never wear out.
