Easy way to remove chrome strips around my windows?

Easy way to remove chrome strips around my windows?

It looked like it was going to be easy but I missed the DIY boat…

Any help???

There is no easy way. They are riveted in. While removing them, there is a 50% chance in breaking them. When I had my fender repaired they had to remove one to blend the door. It broke.

If you are trying to black them out you have two real options.
A) tape off all the windows and everything but the trip, and paint or plastidip them.
B) just get vinyl strips and apply it over the chrome.

Those things do not come off easy and aren worth the time. The older models came off a lot easier

I think its impornant to see why you want to remove them. I helped my buddy remove all the crome on his A6. We found that there is a low chance of getting your trim off without breaking it.

This is very indepth. What he did was to remove the door pannel to give him better access to the rivits so he could push them out. Not sure you want to go threw all that.

the chance of getting it off without breaking anything is very low, and I’ve heard from those that actually did get it off without breaking anything. . . had even less luck getting it back on perfect.

I had a paint shop just paint all my trim, better option than plastic dip since I didn’t want to do black.

painting my chrome trim tomorrow. i will post before and after pic and maybe give some helpful tips on how to get it done. i also heard that you can just go to advanced auto parts or autozone which ever one you prefer and get some black trim tape but i wasn’t sure on how well that would hold up if you were to pressure wash your car or something so thats why i just decided to paint it.

simple answer to op: nope

Thanks for the tips.

I decided to have a good body shop paint them.

I might have them paint the lower bumpers and door trim the same as the rest of the car also.

Thanks again…
