Egine serial number location?

Does anyone know where the engines serial number is locatied?
I’ve been searching the forums and even under the hood to no avail.

I don’t believe that the motors are serialized at all. The only thing I saw was a BHF stamp on the block. I’m not 100% accurate so hopefully some one else will agree or prove me wrong.

There is also a number on the front of my block above the crank pulley that could be a serial number, but it does not correlate to my VIN what so ever.

Why are you concerned with your motors serial number?

Each head has a stamped number under the intake manifold also

Haha, we would know…

Thanks for the input. I’m sure the engine should have a serial number somewhere, and not just on the heads.

I had a “reman” engine put in but after 5k miles and it burns a quart every ~500 miles and has compression numbers like a well used engine. 150 is the highest and in only three cylinders all the way down to 125 in two others. The other cylinders fall between those numbers. Garbage.

I need to make sure I got what I paid for because I suspect they may have dropped a used engine in the car and pocketed the difference.

The reman was not from Audi and cost 10k vs 12k for the Audi. The same shop sold me the reman that did the r/r work on the car.

Ya I would say it’s definitely not a reman and if they did screw you over they are pocketing a lot of $$. Not sure how you’ll prove it though man, good luck.

It might be a reman engine, just not an Audi reman which means probably a sloppy reman engine. New engine tends to consume oil but should not be low on compression. good luck

Remember if you do find engine serial number this probably wont tell you too much as it was already asigned to a vin number since the block is “used”.
