Electronics Cutting Out When Reving From Low Idle

Forgive me for all these posts as a new member, but as a V10 owner with no previous experience with these cars, when I can’t find an answer through the search, you can bet I’m gonna ask. ;D

So, as the subject says, let’s say I’m pulled up at a light and there’s a 5 series BM next to me, obviously I have to assert my dominance. However, when I rev the engine from an Idle, all electronics in the car cut out. I will post a video link.
(I should note that this issue is also unpredictable…sometimes it does it every time, other times I can’t even get it to do it.)

In this video, the instrument cluster actually stays lit, which normally even that cuts out. Watch the radio and all the red LEDs for the controls. Right around the 9-10 second mark.

??? ??? ???

Everything boots right back up (Blutooth takes a min) and I obviously don’t get any codes from this. Only does it from a dead idle. I feel like this isn’t how its supposed to work. Anyone else seen this before? I’m thinking maybe alternator isn’t performing at tip top performance anymore, but then again, I’ve never seen this happen in a car I’ve owned.

Actually I just realized that in this video, even the instrument cluster cuts out.

I would just edit but…newbe ::slight_smile:

That is completely odd.

I thought maybe if it was just the mmi there could be a short somewhere, but this is a headscratcher.

side note… I appreciate that all the suggested videos are Borat Videos lol!

Yeah the only reasonable assumption I can come up with is actual power output dropping because like you said, a short would be isolated. Everything crashes. Blower fans. Everything.

do you have access to vag com? I’d be interested to see what the alternator output is when you blip the throttle and this happens.

I personally do not yet. It’s the next thing on my list of things to get.
I do have a basic OBD scanner, I wonder if u could get it to catch a dip? Not sure it reads fast enough.
