Engine Cleaning Help

I was wondering if someone could post some info on the best methods for cleaning our motors, I was going to use seafoam but honestly I’m scared to death to put ANY ADDITIVES in our cars as the manual specifically states NO ADDITIVES!

This was my origional plan…
I just got my car back from the shop with all fluids flushed power steering, brake, coolant, and I previously had the trans and rear diff done about 6 months ago. And now that my oil change is due in awhile I was thinking of seafoaming crank case for what i’ve heard is supposed to be left in for 500miles?!?!? which kinda scares me.

Then I planned to dump it in the gas tank and after it went through I would change the fuel filter.
And after that I was going to run it through the vacuum lines and after I planned to change my spark plugs cuz I heard it could damage them and mine need to be done anyways cuz I don’t know when the previous owner changed them or what brand they were even using.

Anyways that was my own little engine clean I came up with, doing all the seafoams treatment options that I’ve read and heard about along with replacing the parts that I thought would need it after the treatment. I was hoping to have a shop do all this for me and while they were doing this I wanted them to clean the TB and IM and then I was thinking that would cover everything and I would have a nice clean smooth and more efficient and happy motor

So if some more experienced people could please chime in and point me in the right direction as I’m sure other people would want to do some engine treatments also.

For the last week I have been seriously considering doing this.to my car when I.get it back. Can’t wait to hear what people think of this!

Further reading lead me to a correction on my part apparently the fuel filter should be done prior to putting the Seafoam in since It can break down dirt particles and clog the injectors.

Also I am well aware of the countless good reviews from members on AZ but if people are suggusting changing fuel filter and spark plugs then the seafoam is having some kind of negative effect. So now I’m wondering what other effects is it having on the motor, sensors?..

Im with you on this. You might have to change the fuel filter twice. I put in seafoam and it destroyed my 02’s on my last 3.0. Im sure it cleaned everything real well but it did dammage lots of stuff. One of my injectors went bad and then it whiped out my primary 02 and one of my sparkplugs. NOW> I don’t know if all of this was from the seafoam but its hard to think that none of it was.

I do use fuel treatments with techron. Ive found that usefull.

Thats funny you mention the techron treatments because my German ONLY mechanic shop told me they have never used seafoam and didn’t know anything about it but reccomended the techron. I only ever use Chevron so I’m more likely to use the techron treatment over the seafoam, seems to be safer.

yah I tryed both and techron seems to really have helped. Ill do a video in the next month or so after a get a few more things sorted out on the car on how I cleaned my valves. Seafoam is nice but its too harsh. IMHO
