EPC light on juddering

Started her on this morning and EPC light on for first time.

Since changed sparkplug Audi service last week Engine warning light went out no issues since.

Unfortunately I had to drive somewhere. I noticed car was very juddering in reverse and felt was trying to pull to hard when in D1… bit rumbly too… :frowning:

Did the car smooth out after roughly two minutes? - Did the EPC light come on right away? Or a few seconds after starting the car?

A combination of carbon and the SAI system kicking in in cold weather can cause issues on cold start situations.

Hi Thank you.

It was zero this morning so it would have been a cold start. I only really noticed the ECP light shortly into my trip and it stayed on until I arrived.

When I started the car some 2 hours later, no ECP light came on or any other warning light. The car started fine and behaved as normal.

On the way home gave it the beans a few times and seemed fine. Near the end on one occasion when overtaking hard uphill the orange Engine Warning Light flashed on and off for literally a second (misfire?) and then did not come on again. No other warning light came on.

I have to return to Audio on Tuesday to fit air filters as they had none in stock at the time, presumably they can analyse these fault codes?

On a side note, I have a set of brand new K&N air-filters here, however I’m a bit loathe to fit them as this chap saying https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1kTyyuK1CQY letting in larger particles of oil etc.

As for the airfilters. That video is a classic example of why you dont want to get your information from you tube and in general non car people.

That guy has no idea what he is talking about and it shows.

Not defending k&n here but lets get a few things out of the way.

If you want a less restrictive air filter its going to flow more air and if you have more air getting by the filter its going to let to some degree larger particles by but to a degree only so many. So in one hand he accuses the air fitlers of making no more power but then says they let by more air but then he says at the same rpm motors pull in the same amount of air. He contadicts himself and has no clue what hes talking about.

Let me make it simple. go outside and run around the block. then come back and tie a shirt around your head that covers your mouth and nose. You can still breath but you have a restrictive filter. No go out and try to do the same thing by running around the block. You will be starving for air when you have the more restrictive shirt restricting the free flow of air into your lungs. Its the same thing with a motor aftermarket air filters remove the restriction of air that some air filters cause.

As for the oil issue. Thats for when people clean there air filter and add the oil. the oil in the aftermarket filters actually acts like a magnet and it traps dirt. Its part of the system where you can have a less restrictive filter if you add oil to it as the oil acts like a dirt magnet. The oil getting on peoples MAF is when people clean the air filters and add 5x too much oil to the filter. That is when people complain about the oil on the MAF not from when it comes from the manufacture.

Aftermarket air filters work by removing the restriction of air into the motor. NA motors like the 5.2 V10 will see more power by removing the restriction at any point in the system. I cant tell you just how restrictive the stock Audi air filters are for the V10 as I have not done a really deep study. I can tell you that the K&N filter clearly looks less restrictive then the OEM filter.

If you have more questions or want to start a thread just on this subject feel free. I just wanted to post a few things to give you something to think about.

Ok thank you… so shall I ask them to fit these brand new K&Ns then… bit of a waste sat here
