epl b8s4 tune

Your an idiot man

Your tune is fine, but you need the extra RPMs a TCU tune will give.

What kind of numbers did you make on the National Speed Dyno? 352whp or something? What mods did you have?

Your so thick headed it’s insane, I think you should stop by EPL.

AMS already owns an S6 so there goes that. A white one.

my guess is VW GTI

Any bets?

You sound a little like Arin. Sure, I’ll do a TCU tune when, next year, they get it finally for the 8.0 and maybe the following year for the 8.5s. Mods, APR CPS, APR Stage II, Roc Euro intake, Euro Code headers, Miltek resonated exhaust, Aquamist Meth injection, and of course the only hood intake in the world on a Audi S4. ;D The kid at National Speed didn’t even know how to hook up the spark lead for a torque read. All this, a cool night, 68F, car emptied of junk, 104 octane race fuel, netted me 12.67 at Coastal Planes Dragway. Been there twice now. Second time just after my third APR re-flash.

I don’t like Arin either, but that isn’t the point here. No one has a TCU tune out yet and no one has fixed the issues your trying to fix by cutting a hole in your hood and adding meth.

Not your current mods…geez… Your mods when you put the car on the rollers at National Speed and what were the numbers? RPM hookup is usually a bitch on Audis with plastic encased wire looms running down the valve covers to the coil packs.

68degrees is cool in NC, but it wasn’t the best DA (700-800ft maybe)
104oct with “too much 93” …those were your worlds I believe. What tune were you running?
You had a check engine light
You have a wheel setup that doesn’t help
Your 60’ was less than stellar
Your biggest disadvantage is the early shifting

12.67 isn’t horrible if you take into account the things I listed above.

If you went after that, it was only hotter…worse DA and you probably had no chance of running faster. Not to mention you went on a Friday Night T&T in the summer and there were a million people there. You probably sat in the staging lanes heat soaking your car the majority of the night.

Some of what you say is true but not all. You keep forgetting the 8.5s, 2014s don’t have any octane switching. They come with ONE set tune. That’s another reason why my Stage II is worthless. I’m convinced APR rushed it onto the market. GIAC has an 8.5 tune and DSG upgrade. Also soon will have switching for their system, stock or tune, V2?
My CPS kept the supercharger coolant well below 100F. By the way, how do you know I was there on a Friday night? You’re not a stalker are you? ::slight_smile:

Saxon returns for some more EPL defending.

Good posts you made a very strong argument… Is saxon really selling his car

Well at least we can agree on some things.

Good to know about the octane switching, I don’t follow the platform that closely because I don’t have a dog in that fight. I can say I agree that they may have rushed to the market before figuring everything out, a ton of companies do that…well except JHM…they never rush anything (good thing).

If I were you I’d personally wait to see some (2014) GIAC guys put some times down, if the times look great and APR still isn’t ready, then switch. Don’t switch tunes without a reason to.

I didn’t mean this last Friday or any specific day, so no I’m not a stalker…haha. I lived in Jacksonville for 10 years so I was at the strip quite often. Usually Coastal only has T&T on Friday nights during the summer months because Saturdays are taken up by IHRA events or rentals. When it cools down they will move them to Sunday afternoon, which is usually the best time to run. You’ll have epic DA and the sun will warm the track for great traction.

He said he was trading it in in his FS thread for his bodykit. The one he bought on the car and tried to pawn by saying it cost $3000. ::slight_smile:

What’s funny is ams just pivots the conversation each time with, “keep the tuner wars out of my thread” and “wrong platform!”

Epl is your tuner dumb ass.

You might be right to an extent. Rushed it wise. Maybe the car is stepping in and saying ‘no’ to the parameters, but as has been said 1300 times, your biggest problem is that the B8 S4 is AMAZING from 6000-7000 RPM and the work the engine does in that range means big HP vs the work is does from 5000-6000. The torque is similar, but the HP is just not there…and torque at higher RPMs means more work and more speed. That’s what you’re missing.

Your ignition timing advance on the log Arin showed was normal. You’re just missing 6200-7000, and until you get that back, you will always be relatively slow. No matter how many things you try. Headers? Nope. Chicken coop? Nope. Meth? Hell no. EPL tune? Just sell your car. Nothing will change this unless you get a TCU. Contact GIAC and ask them for help. It will embarrass APR if you get a TCU tune from GIAC and go 12.30. If you want to stick it to APR, that’s how.

p.s. re coastal, Euroswagr ran his B7 S4 there a few times. Tune and exhaust and a couple of lw bolt ons he went 12.87@106. He probably knows the schedule pretty well.

I think AMS is missing it. It was AMS that built and tuned AMAZING cars. AMS has the reputation for building and then tuning bad ass cars. A EPL tuned AMS car isn’t AMS anymore. That’s not what got AMS famous. EPL isn’t part of the evo or gtr dominated section. AMS has nice but not super great hardware. Now with EPL the AMS option is just decent hardware with substandard tuning. If AMS thinks there brand is so great make it great and continue doing things how they have been. Outsourcing the tuning isn’t AMS anymore. So they might just need to pack up all that old hype and realize what’s really going on here.

You should clarify

 1. you sold your B8 S4 a year ago
 2. you drive a C7 S6
 3. it’s not a tuner war…nobody is comparing tunes. It’s a discussion about AMS’ tuner, EPL

Very well said. If they want to trot out their GTR and EVO records to show how great they are, ask them if EPL tuned those GTRs. Obviously, they didn’t.

It’s not ethical to boast about that track record because with the B8 and C7, the process that begat the track record is no longer in place. They must post about and work off of EPL’s track record…which is SHIT.

Good to see sciblades is still there…
Don’t mind well_armed, he just enjoys arguments. As always I disagree with him and would say that the 4.0tt platform more closely mirrors the b5 platform of twin turbos which tony has done great things.
what a dummy

notarmed NAILED it as usual…
If you consider being 34th fastest in the 1/4 mile, then yes EPL has done great things for the B5 platform.
Looks like EPL’s #1 customer in the B8 market has… moved on to APR software…

To his credit he sent me some logs, which I think are EPL, and I haven’t replied to his email since I’ve been pretty busy… logs were meh… low timing, some retard on runs and such… Will review and share my thought with him when I get the time but I guess it doesn’t matter anymore…

lulz…

He needs to come back here, take his “we told you so” beating like a man.

Then he can use all of the information you have gathered and provided the community so he doesn’t make some stupid mistake again.

50/50 mix of E85 seems pretty ballsy.
I’m really curious if he understands E85 beyond the “cooling properties”
If he runs too much the targeted AFR changes, the tune isn’t exactly goign to compensate for that.

He says
as far as i know im the only one running it on the apr tune, quite a few people with giac and no issues
I love people that just do what they want…it always ends well

Wasn’t he selling his car? He never stops changing his mind.

Euro, I think he is banned… Also, yeah it’s funny as he got the meth specific tuning from Tony… Maybe APR is making custom tunes for him… They don’t have much going on now do they?

Brandon, Agreed… I’ll admit I flip flop myself quite often, actually thinking about an RS5 recently but I hear you…
