ETG Tune?

I’d suspect I’ll be spanked for this post. My excuse? Had neck surgery yesterday and I’m high on Hydrocodon! Regardless, just curious if anyone has done their tune, which I doubt, and if yes your impressions please. Oops, I’m referring to the tune in a RS5
Thanks

That’s a very confusing post, sky. ETG/jfonz/sillyrabit/itguy have a tune for the RS5?

Sky you will see the same response to most of these questions.

ETG is just another flyby night company from the same guy who has failed before. Its rebranded. While that guy is able to tune certian cars so are lots of other unqualified people.

If you really want a tune for your RS5 get an APR tune or do what most people will tell you and wait for JHM.

The RS5 is going to be even worse then the S4 you had. You need a company that has the car and is really deep into owning and development of the car. For example if you wanted at tune for the RS4 there are tunes from APR GIAC REVO and JHM. All of the tunes for the RS4 are a waste of money except for the JHM. There are a ton of other companys that still will tell you they can tune the RS4 but its nothing more then standard BS.

With the B8 S4 you have APR and GIAC at the top of there game and at the top of the list for proven performance. There are a long list of companys that will tell you they can tune the B8 S4 but ETG was one of them. They never posted anything… Probably because they had terrible results and when they worked on tuning a stage 3 car it went slower then a stage 1 GIAC car.

The point to the story here is. There are a lot of tuners and most of the less respected less known tuners will tell you big storys and feed you all kinds of lies and crap to hopefully get your money. The bigger known companys are known because they actualy work and have accoplished great things. Dont get a tune for your RS5 unless the company has solid results and actually owns or is currently developing parts for the car. Look how many revisions are put out for the B8 S4 from GIAC and APR. They are big companys that know what they are doing and they keep learning about the cars and makeing changes to keep the cars safe and fast. On a car like the B8 S4 those guys are still learning and they own the cars.

The biggest thing that killed you on the B8 S4 was your excitement but lack of over all knowledge. The one lession that you should take away from that is. there will never be a shortage of people looking to take your money even if they dont have a product ready or perfected. The companys that are recomended like JHM are companys that wont take your money and wont tune your car unless they know its rock solid and proven. Those are the products and companys that are worth waiting for. Anyone can print a dyno sheet and sell a tune and from what we have all seen ETG is great at selling dyno sheets but there tunes are not so great.

There are no viable power mods for the RS5 currently. APR shelved their SC project (I don’t know if they even have the car anymore). The tune doesn’t really do much anyways. For mods, it’s just an exhaust (for sound more than anything) or for almost the same amount of money, random intakes that almost cost as much as an exhaust (but they’re CF! lol) - with little to no actual testing done.

I told you straight up when you were considering/switching to the RS5 that there’s a current lack of aftermarket options right now (not just power mods). It’s maddening, but it has also made me really appreciate the car as well out of the box (apart from brakes and stock exhaust - and I like how my car handles now)

Rest up and hope you recover well from the surgery.

I’d stay away from ETG/SRM and anything PES (if their garage is still open - literally a garage).

If you can handle the change in ‘ride comfort’, how about toying with suspension/handling mods instead (if you really need to scratch that mod ‘itch’)? I love how my RS5 handles over a stock RS5 setup over a stock B8 S4 setup.

Sky, you really need a project car. Cutting up hoods and running tunes developed in basements is not what you should be doing to current model 60k luxury cars.

Why don’t you try to build an 8 second fox body mustang or something?

(I’m aware that the same words should be directed at myself

lol bang on

although it was $70k!

Sounds like your not selling!

Well, I got what I suspected I would, a thumbs down. I think I’ll go eat some more hydrocodone and slip back into my fantasy land ;D. Thanks for all your time.

No nibbles at all. Figured it would be a tough sell. Several wholesale offers…they were a joke.

Feel better!

I’m not blaming anyone. It’s a beautiful niche car. Still love it and it looks like I’m probably keeping it.

I’d think you would do better selling the RS5 than the S4. Much more special/rare car. Especially while it remains current gen.

How’d you do on selling/parting out the S4? You had some pretty nice mods on it.
