yeah, I don’t get it. Maybe I’m missing something. If the stock engine can handle the 1740, where’s the huge benefit of the big RPMs? To move the powerband farther out? I thought that was the best part of the B8 S4…the powerband being so fat early on.
And since we know the B8 is only making about 25-35 whp less than the B7 RS4 with that 1740 blower, i.e. that’s all that is left on the table and you can likely attribute that to displacement, what’s the point of doing an engine build with the B8?
UNLESS…the B8 S4 stock engine can’t handle 475 whp or whatever it’s making on the 1740, and a motor build is required (at a probably cost of $15,000-20,000 on top of the kit) . But if that’s the case, will anybody bother to pay that (around $30,000) to go from mid 11s to low 11s? To go from trapping 118 to 124? I dont’ see it.
So overall, I don’t get it.
