Exhaust set up

Saki Greece maybe a EU country but customs is even worse than trying to imprt stuff in the former USSR.

Have checked around with people that offer mprt services…DHL, FedEx etc…

Theya are asking for a fixed fee of EUR200 plus a % on the invoice value as their remuneration. This total is around 500.

Then the actual taxes are a % of the invoice value (EUR250) and the other 250 is some form of third party taxes that we have only here in Greece!

Now if you try to import it by yourself, you waive the 500 with danger of losing around 15 days until the import is approved.

Obviously this is tne best option as long as one has the patience.

You are right to say that it is totally frustrating to know that you can get a superior product for a lesser price only to get ripped off from the local jokers…perhaps this is what bothers me the most and it is a mind game…

Clear it yourself. It’s not a huge deal if you’re near a customs port. I remember clearing a snowboard through Heathrow once. Turn up, sign some papers, pay some money.

Why not check 246.com for used exhausts? Might get lucky…

gotcha

can you drive out and pick it up somewhere? Not sure where in Greece you are. Would be cool to get it delivered to a shop across the border, get it installed there, and drive back with it on the car.

Long shot.

problem is the guys that have JHM have gone through what he’s going through lol

One fellow, Sar who posts here, paid around $1000 in shipping I believe. It was a right hassle.

Perhaps ask jhm if they have any dealers or relationships with anyone over there. Keep in mind that jhm will be having a winter sale that might be something that helps tip the tables financially.

I know that this year they put together a group deal for 5 guys in france and they saved a bundle doing it this way.

they will work with you on things like that.

honestly u should save the headache pay a bit more and pull the trigger for the jhm. u will not be disappointed it looks great, makes the most power and sounds the best imo of all the other exhausts on the market.

Thanks a lot for the advice and tips. My options/next steps would be:

  1. Contact JHM and check for winter sales etc…
  2. If anything do the import myslef and save some 500.

Hopefully a combined 1 and 2 will give a significant discount over the current “Greek cost”.

JHM always have a holiday sale. I think the DP/exhaust combo get a couple hundred off. And the tune was def in the 500 range.

I really think this is the smart thing to do. You are interested in getting the most from your car and getting the right exhaust is a very big part of what you need. The extra work will be well worth the extra hp.

In the end it is a great investment.

I always seem to be learning something new about my S4…thank god for the forums. This vacuum flap on the stock exhaust is news to me…I am going to gut the precats but what will disabling the vacuum flap do…increase the sound? That is my guess anyways.

This thread is about an RS4 bud

You should definitely gut your precats though.

Found an excellent way to lower the total cost and i will be contacting Jake this week.

Can anyone contribute as to how louder is the non res vs. te res set up?

Thanks.

u want the resonators. trust me its way to loud inside the cabin without them. you wont like it for day to day driving, the drone never stops.

Thanks a lot.

How do I ask for black tips? It is not an option on the site…

They don’t offer it anymore. In your situation, probably best to get it done locally as that will keep the price that appears on the invoice down. And therefore the duties/taxes

DIY it. We discussed it in the window trim wrap restyleit group buy thread.

+1, Rattle can that shit!!! How is the durability on the paint up there in the great white North??

seems the duplicolor holds up, that’s also why I picked it for my mirrors.
