Unfortunately you don’t have headers, and wrapping you exhaust manifold will proove difficult as you ca see from the pic I posted there are no runners to wrap on the oem ones.
I’m not right now, I was just curious. Trying to figure out what the car needs/doesn’t, and what i want to do. I have the 2.5" stock headers so I should be good right? my build was 11/01
Yep from what i have gathered, sounds like you have the good exhaust manifold which are collector style, so I wouldn’t worry about headers for a while. If you just get the JHM dp’s and what ever cat back you want, you should be set. I don’t even think you would need to buy any exhaust wrap, don’t think it would be wort it IMO
Ok then what i said was right.
The 3.0L using H or X doesnt see any real power gain from one or the other.
All the data I find shows the 3.0L’s HP dropping off sharply between 5200-5800.
I’ll leave H and save my money for other things.
Waiting on the JHM 2.5 CATS and down pipes.
Or 2.5 without CATS.
We spent a lot of time testing out and rebuilding our 3.0 L downpipes so they’ll fit perfectly. As soon as they are ready for sale I will let you know! What is a good phone number I can contact you at?
As for the other products you’re interested in, we’re getting ready to release them in a few weeks with the downpipes, BUT I can sell you something right now! I can get you a 034 Transmission Mount, 034/JHM 3 Liter Motor Mounts, an Apikol Rear Diff. Mount AND our brand new JHM 3L V6 Clutch and LWFW combo! Finally, have you considered a tuning upgrade for your 3L? We have an EXCELLENT tune for these cars that we’ve spent a lot of time developing, testing, and gathering real world data on. We went to the track a few weeks ago and made some AMAZING gains on this car using our tuning to take advantage of all of our hardware upgrades.

Would there be any real gain to having high flow cats vs gutted cats? I have to pass emissions here in PA and if I don’t have cats, that’s a fail.
As said in the B6/7 world, piggies or catless. HFC are rarely worth it due to the exorbitant costs of good quality cats. And the Audi cats are actually very robust and flow pretty well. I’d imagine the same kind of logic applies to the 3.0.
I really haven’t talked to them, and may have skimmed over something in here, but I’d be slightly surprised if they’re making a catted and non catted version of the DP. I’d imagine it’s just catless. But as said, no inside info and haven’t kept up with all the posts that great.
is it going to smell with the JHM DP’s in? I remember someone mentioned that it would, But I would still have 2 cats on my car so I was thinking it wouldn’t?
Thank you. . . people complain, and it just reminds me that I have more horsepower and a MUCH better sounding car. The smell doesn’t bother me at all. And the clouds of black smoke while doing a WOT with other cars around make you remembered haha.
If you only do piggies, you won’t smell any extra gas. It’ll smell just like stock. You can pass a sniffer test with just piggies as long as the car has warmed up.
