Not sure if this has been dicussed but, wondering if getting a third party one is a good idea to have the timing components overhauled on the new to me 4.2. Any experiences folks may care to share are welcomed. Thanks.
3rd party warranties are a waste of money and they will not cover you timing components because Audi says the rattle is “normal”. Just take the money you would spend on the warranty and use it to pay for the timing service.

That’s one way to get your post count up. Aftermarket warranty stuff is hard to really say yes. If you know the car is prone to have issues then getting a warranty might not be the worst thing. But if they don’t cover or won’t cover what your issue is down the road it is useless. The great thing about these cars and the 4.2 is how predictable they are.
Take good care of motor don’t wait more then 5000 miles between oil changes. Gut or remove your precats and make sure to keep the heat out of the motor and you should be good.
The money you would have spent on the warranty just spend it on the timing stuff that way you can get the parts you want and know it’s done right without a warranty company saying they won’t pay for something that really should be replaced.
