although you’d be slower (considerably) in a JHM SC RS4 than you would in a JHM SC II S4. JHM are only selling the stage 1 6 psi kit, and an intercooled version of that from the looks of it.
I’ve had both - the wagon feature of the S4 I used about a tenth of the time. The awesome handling and ride of the RS4 and the wide track I enjoy 100% of the time. We focus on the HP but I feel like Audi made so many little non-powertrain upgrades from S4 to RS4 to make an all round better car.
However, if you’re going to mod the RS4 anyway (coils, brakes etc) then the S4 is just as good a place to start.
^hmm I don’t know about that. IMHO I feel like the only two things it’s got going for it is that sexy widebody and power train, that’s it. If one of these things would be missing, I don’t think I’d even consider it.
I really enjoyed my B7 S4, it was a great looking car…but the RS4 is a completely different level and experience.
Some of the exterior differences are what will make you turn around every time you park the car to admire it. It’s kind of funny but the trunk line (spoiler) is one of my favorite differences. It’s hard to capture in a picture to do it justice, but it’s one thing I always end up looking at. The widebody is obviously on the same level and just as pleasing.
The suspension and drivetrain make it a completely different car, right out of the box. I’d imagine you’d have to spend $4k to make an S4 feel similar. I won’t even get into the engine difference, all I have to say is an NA V8 that spins up to 8k RPM is nuts. Even on a stock car the feeling is a fucking rush and really doesn’t even feel “right” sometimes.
I am very pleased of my choice, it would have taken a lot to make my already good B7 S4 into a great car like my current RS4…and it would have just been an S4 with a ton of money dumped into it. The RS4 will always be an RS4 and that is just fine.
For me yeah, and not the entire exterior I should’ve clarified just certain widebody panels(namely those fenders and quarter panels are to die for). Although those parts tie into sideskirts, bumpers and rear doors. Take them away and leave those aggressive bumpers and it just lost my interest. I don’t care for the minor stuff is what I’m saying. DRC, brakes, wheels although nice upgrades over S4 are not the things I personally take into consideration when looking at RS4, that’s all.
I use the wagon feature all the time so I would miss it.
Wouldn’t mind driving an RS4 and my S4 back to back to see what the handling differences are like.
