F80 M3 F82 M4 lemon report

Wow its rare to see that bad of a review. The styling looks great. For that much money you would expect a much better car than the review

Not sure if bag of rocks is something I want associated with my $80k car

[quote]It means listening to the muffler do its best impersonation of a garbage disposal filled with rocks when we start the car

My cousin traded in his E92 M3 on a new F80… he really regrets it.

that’s exactly accurate. Not a bag of rocks…a garbage disposal/garborator with rocks in it clanging around.

Fucking awful sounds are emitted 6 cylinder BMWs

I really want to like new German sedans but I’d honestly rather have a loaded B9 A4 Prestige and $25,000 rather than an F80 or a C63 with a ton of fit and finish problems. The CCB are also a huge pain point on the C63, with many people returning their Edition1 cars which came loaded with every option.

I appreciate that Audi is taking their time and will be last to market.

I’ve been in my friend’s F80 a few times and it really does sound like a V8 inside. You’re excited to see the car so you’re not thinking about the facts. The next day you realize it was all an illusion and you feel like an idiot.

well intake sound is generally a bit deeper and that’s what’s pumped into the interior. So goofy.

The new 911 will pump intake sounds into the interior as well, goofy indeed.

generally it’s shitty sounding cars that do it. Any 6 cylinder is a candidate. flat 6, V6, i6…they all do it it seems. Not many naturally aspirated V8s or V10s with sound gimmicks lol. Only V8s I can think of with this are the turbo V8s since the turbo and exhasut routing kills the sound (new M5, McLarens).

What Porsche does is a bit different. They literally have a tube from the engine bay through the rear firewall near the seat backs. There’s no amplification or digital component to it. It’s just raw flat six.

I drove a Dinan stage 1 F80 M3 today. The turbo lag is totally unacceptable, might be worse than stock. Power whooshes on at 2800 RPM and starts falling off at 5000 RPM, where it just makes sense to upshift.
