fabrication projects

Anyone here into custom fabrication using molds and vacuum bagging or other methods?

I have been thinking about setting up a small system and doing some carbon fiber parts for fun. Plan on experimenting with fiberglass before moving to the more exotic composites. Another of about a million projects on my list…

A guy I worked with was big into it and built his own multi-axis CNC machine. Sparked my interest.

I’d like someone to fabricate me a stainless steel well to put in the one side of my gas grill under the actual grill so that I can cook with charcoal on that side. SLVR…there’s your first project!

p.s. there’s another guy with your username on audizine and he sure isn’t you. You’re much more polite and knowledgeable

I make prints for custom fabrications at work quite often, not allowed to actually fabricate anything though.

Never done molding work, but I’d like to give it shot at some point (try to make skis).

A homemade 3d printer would be cool, seen some of those before.

Take some measurements, I could probably draw something in inventor

lol, I noticed that too

^^haha at first I thought this motherfucker is like jekkyl and hyde

Interesting…I had no idea I was stealing someone else’s identity! While I do have my ugly moments, I try to maintain my composure as much as possible. I usually only berate the people I work with but since they can’t understand English it isn’t much of a problem. ;D

The stainless well shouldn’t be too difficult. You could even do a cheap version out of sheet metal and coat/seal it with a ceramic epoxy like Devcon Wear Guard (good for continues 450 deg F temps) to help insulate the charcoal for better heat and protection.

I do some fabrication at work but it is mostly for repairs and modifications of existing items, and nothing fancy. Welding mostly. The 3D printers look like a ton of fun. I saw the 3D pen thing. I want one.
