Is carbon really an issue?

lets look at the S4. 50K never cleaned

Same for the RS4 50k never cleaned. Same gas same environment.

lets see this from another angle.

I don’t know it looks fine :o

That really says it all. I found it funny in the past that there were poeple who actually said carbon didn’t effect performance. Ill look to see if I can find a few dyno sheets showing the difference. I know Ive seen some around.

Still just flow wise you can see the design of the valve and port are going to be disrupted. The valve taper is for mixture of air and fuel tumbling in the cylinder, that tumbling effect is deffinitly going to be effected

We al know there is no such thing as a carbon monster that robs HP. lol. I guess if you want to think that your valves covered in that wont harm the hp then go for it.

this picture is awesome. Really shows how insane that is.

Remember thats 50k. Both cars were Michigan cars and they were with in 5 miles of each other. Same fuel same roads same environment.

I would of liked to see that rs4 and s4 run side by side. I bet the s4 was faster or not far behind it. lol

I know beemercer has a video of a strong running B7 S4 Vs a lightly carbonized stock RS4.

I don’t see what the big deal is. AurthrPE proved to me with math that this is all make believe!

Well I think its obvious that All AurtherPE did was use math to make himself believe that he knew what he was taking about. turns out… He didn’t, in the end it just shows you can abuse figures to make any point you want. After reading lots of his fact-less posts. The end story is simple. He made lots of great POINTS. Not one of them was a fact.

hahaha, love it!

true but I heard the RS4 driver couldn’t see…his eyes were watering.

toxic taquito farts

It amazes me that the air velocity moving past those valves does not break off chunks of carbon from the valves

I just did my buddies intake manifold on his s4 and to my surprise he had a little bit of carbon built up in there. His s4 is an 04 car so that could be due to a older version of the pvc? mabe? as there was a little bit of oil in there too. He said his car doesnt consume alot of oil. And his car does feel strong when i rode in it. Anyone know if the pvc was upgraded on the early 04 to the later model 04/05?

In some cases it will. This has shown to do damage to the cylinder walls in some cases. Great post I’m using some of these pictures.
