FI exhaust mufflers ruined replace with?

Long story short i was in a flood and water got into the exhaust when it was hot and ruined the mufflers. Car is EXTREMELY LOUD! So i need new mufflers. Should i just get them from sebring (which is FI mufflers) or are there better options that you guys would suggest? If you had to replace your mufflers on a FI exhaust what would you do?

First question is, did you like the sound and did you want to change. I would contact JHM to see what they can do for you before you spend any money. I don’t know if there is a warranty on exhaust parts. You’ll be better off knowing what options you have.

Sound wise. Borla offers a deep non raspy sound that goes really well on the smaller V8 motors. They’ve got a great line to look at.

Car insurance for something like that. Get a new Fast Intentions catback under your comprehensive policy.

Deductible is either $250 or $500…which will approximate the cost of 2 Sebring mufflers plus tips, and then you have to get them welded on etc.

I’d say you’d be in well past $500 after buying new sebring mufflers (and if I recall, most of their mufflers are sold with tips pre-welded on). Given that, I agree with saki, I’d let insurance take that one.

It was kinda funny, my exhaust got slightly damaged (rear muffler dented basically, just aesthetic damage) and insurance was covering some other related work as well. They went to audi and priced out basically the whole back section of the exhaust (which was a SHIT TON). Then I told them no no that’s not needed, and they priced just the muffler for me. They were quite relieved by that as it saved a couple grand lol.

You let an insurance company off the hook?? That’s almost Unamerican these days.

Insurance company already bought me a brand new engine. Motor was hyrdrolocked. They are already out almost 18k and don’t want to go higher.

Ill look into borla. Called sebring today and they said 119 a muffler (estimated).

I would stick with sebring, I really like the sound of their mufflers over most others that I’ve heard.

Before I sold my s4 I had a custom borla on mine. I promise you wont be disappointed. It has more of a roar to it and IMO sounded better than FI. I didn’t get the same performance gains as an FI though but it was minimal.

Well I would be keeping the exhaust, just changing the mufflers.

would be funny if borla used sebrings

Did some digging. I liked borla from my F-body days so i was interested in pricing out both. The only problem with the Borla is that its for single tip only, they dont dual tip for my size. BUT i have been considering running the RS4 oval tips as i think it would look good on my DTM rear. I just dont know if the Tips would fit or be too big. opinions?

This they should fit, someone here can measure for you Im sure

Get the single tip and just have an exhaust shop weld in dual on them. Like these:http://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B004NW7G6C/ref=redir_mdp_mobile

Could always change to the euro DTM rear lol. I had it and loved the dual single tip setup with it. Very odd how the US had quad tips with the DTM rear end and the euro had dual tips though.

Hofele sells some exhaust tips i found. http://hofeleamerica.com/products/oval-tailpipes-stainless-steel-1 . Just gotta measure. Hard to do with no car (still in the shop). Ill have to stop by and talk with the shop about all this.

Yeah your setup looked quite bad ass 8)

Please post sound clips when you’re done.

Will do. I will update and post pics and introduce myself properly. May be a few weeks though.

I dont think they did because the mufflers said in large letters “borla”. In any case even if they did, champion motorsports decided that a y-pipe instead of an x-pipe was better for gains on the exhaust (for whatever reason) so that also plays a role

new JHM exhausts say in large letters ‘JHM’
