What you see come through to your Paypal, is after Paypal took their cut for the transaction. After the monthly period you will be charged again by ebay for any insertion fees, and final value fees including the amount for shipping.
They didn’t always charge for shipping, but people decided to start selling items for a penny, and then making the shipping fees the actual price of the item to get away from expensive final value fees. eBay caught on.
no I’m not referring to that. For one, I didn’t even use paypal. For two, your ebay account shows the final value fee for your item. Mine sold and the fee was 10% of the item price, even though shipping was articulated in the auction. Maybe I’m just lucky.
I never use ebay for the most part . Had something unique and needed a big market. Otherwise, I use kijiji (owned by ebay ironically) which is like craigslist if craigslist hired someone who knows how to design a website to look nice and be userfriendly
After a buyer commits to purchase an item, you’re charged a final value fee. If a listing ends without a sale (not including any successful Second Chance Offers) you don’t pay a final value fee. Final value fees are calculated based on the total amount of the sale and are charged per item.
The total amount of the sale is the final price of the item, shipping charges, and any other amounts you may charge the buyer. Sales tax is not included.

Exactly, and then they bill you 10% rather than just take it out of your payment when you sell your item. If you use PayPal to get paid, they also take a fee. If you have a credit card or bank account on file, eBay will just use that to take the 10% whenever your billing date is each month. I used to use the $1 buy it now price with crazy shipping until they fixed that. Now it’s the combined price.
