Any guesses on what… Dyno? You kinda just told us. I thought it was 494 whp stock or something.
So 594 now I guess.
If you mean 1/4 mile, that’s another story. St a good track that car stock is good for 11.60 @ 122 or so. With a tune, maybe 11.15 @ 128. This assume the turbos are bigger than the s6/7 turbos.
Wow that’s a nice gain for sure… Please tell us your taking it to make some passes since I doubt will hear from any real world owners going to the strip… My guess is 11.3-11.4 at 125-127 with a low 1.7x 60ft time… Does that car have LC? Thanks for sharing!
It’s a tiptronic, so LC is not an option like it is on the S6/S7 DSG. However, we’re going to play around with it to see what we can do.
So far, output from the factory is nice. Trying to estimate crank figures is posing to be a problem because output at the wheels is so close to what they say at the crank. Seems underrated from the factory just like the S6 and S7. I’ll relay both crank estimates and what we put down to all 4 on our dyno.
Has anyone else dynoed? I’ve only seen the one from K&N’s dyno by some magazine shoot out vs an Alpina B7. Peak power was similar to what we saw, stock, but torque on their dyno was lower. If anyone has any other dynos, post them up. I’m curious.
Power increase quoted figures were from the mid range. We’re still playing with it and it’s capable of MASSIVE torque (over 700 AWFT-LBS), but we’ll cap that off nice and flat for the stage 1 file.
The turbos are larger. This car stock to the ground looks really close to a stage 1 S6/7 in terms of peak horsepower. Midrange torque is less than a chipped S6/7. Still, I’m extremely impressed.
We’ll try to get it to the track too. I cant wait to see what it can do stock and modified. Since it’s such a beast, I’d love to hull down some race fuel for a pass on the race gas file as well, just to see what it has in it, and so the locals poop their pants when we say it’s basically stock with software. One of the engineers wants to throw in our upgraded HPFP’s and do a pass on E85 too. That would be a lot of fun. : )
Nice! Sounds very impressive… I don’t recall seeing any dynos… That Lou dude who drove his B8 S4 from Canada to your place for a flash has one… I bet if you asked he would dyno it? I believe he is still on vendorzine so you could probably PM him and ask, heck maybe he already has done it? His screen name is Lou… Looking forward to the results! Curious from a Marketing standpoint, and I understand if you can’t disclose, but how many S8 tunes do you guys think you’ll sell?
Took the car for a spin with 3 passengers, air conditioning on and a GoPro. Found a straight spot to run, and tried it out. Feels good, especially for a 4400 lb boat with well over 600hp/600ft-lbs to the wheels. It wasn’t even worth while to “try” to make the run fast, it just is even in a comfortable daily driving 80F scenario with passengers, the comfort of AC, including the air conditioned seats on full blast. : )
It was on the dyno all day so gas mileage is hilarious. At WOT it looks like it’s below 0 MPG.
Yup. If i’m not mistaken, the RS6/7 are rated higher than the S8 but in theory should be near what the S8 made since it’s basically the same motor and IIRC same turbos. If it has better attached equipment (intake, exhaust, etc) maybe it will be capable of some more. We’ll know as soon as ours is in. ; )
On our Dynapack, on average, the S8 was putting down around 500 AWFT-LBS of torque in a spike that settled to a flat 475 ft-lbs or so. Power towards redline was up to 480+ AWHP. By redline, stock S8 power was similar to chipped S6/S7 power.
With stage 1 and 93 octane we got an extra max gain of roughly 140 AWFT-LBS of torque and and roughly 115 AWHP. That put us around 625 AWFT-LBS and 575 AWHP.
100 octane is nuts. Every degree of ignition added shows a rather large jump in power. It’s funny because on the graph it seems so small, but that’s because we’re looking at a scale that extends from 0-600+! Peak torque could come way up. We could hit 700 AWFT-LBS all day long but who knows how long that would last. We’re not about to take that risk on stage 1 this early in the game so we kept torque the same between 93 and 100. For extra safety the calibrators also didn’t push ignition very far with 100 to give us some extra headroom for those tossing in 100 mixed with 93, and we even turned up sensitivity on the knock sensors for a little for added protection. Essentially, this motor is expensive. We’ll play it safe since the numbers are already freaking outstanding. Seems like the right thing to do.
Anyways, it’s a beast. Feels fan freaking tastic, and it already did completely stock. Stage 1 is just outrageous. You give it a little gas and it lifts up and goes. You feel it pulling hard in the middle of your chest, your teeth, you name it. I can’t imagine grandma in the back seat when you go WOT to merge into traffic. ; )
Arin, That is awesome… Can’t wait to see it at the strip since it will probably be the only one we see… I wonder how much lighter the RS7 will be… I’ll have to look… Any idea what one of those motors goes for cost wise? I wish it was available in a smaller platform than the 6,7,8, sorry Saki ;D Good stuff!
They should be pretty close from a dig with s8 having the edge at speed. Of course Arin drives a manual vs the tip s8 so that may give the edge to the s8.
