Fitting RS6 steering wheel

Hi all.
I’ve recently acquired a RS6 flat bottomed steering wheel and wondered whether anyone knows if I disable the airbag through Vagcom before removing my current wheel will that save me having to disconnect the battery?

If not does the MMI system have a code to reactivate the radio when I reconnect the battery? I cannot find any radio code amongst any of the paperwork I got with the car.

Thanks in advance and also for all the useful info on the site. Here in the UK

Sorry must have pressed a wrong key. Was going to say here in the UK info is very hard to find due to the rarity of the V10’s.

Welcome from the Uk. Lots of S6 and S8 owners here so you are in good hands as many have said before.

disconnect the battery. You can’t fully disable the air bag and it wouldn’t be worth it. If you are worried you can screen shot your module codes in vag com. But with the newer cars you shouldn’t have any issues with your MMI system. Lets just say by crazy chance you have an issue and you need the raido code. Most of the time you can call Audi customer service give them you vin number and they will give you the raido unlock code if needed. If for some reason they won’t do that in the UK you can always drive to the dealer and have them pull it for you.

Or and I have never tried this but you can look in Vag com and the MMI system secrect settings for the raido code.

I’ve disconnected my battery a few times and for extended periods of time. Never have been asked for a radio code… I’m not sure that theft of the head units on these newer MMI system was like the concern for the RNS-E of yesteryear.

I’ll be honest I did nothing but put it on no disconnecting battery or a thing

Thanks for the help. I’m going to have a go at fitting it this weekend. I still need to sort out a airbag for the new steering wheel as it came without it and Audi want over 800 UK Pounds for the correct one but from my research I think ones from other models will also fit. BlackS6 I see you fitted one from a TT- do you happen to have the part number?

I lol’d so hard at this. I love the simple approach. when it works it just works.

I don’t know why some people make this car so complicated
