Freak Failures (FUSES?)

So tonight after dinner, I went to open my a4’s trunk with my key fob, but it din’t work.

I tried unlocking all the doors so I could lift it open instead, but that didn’t work either and I said “uh oh”.

I went to the driver’s side door, but still wouldn’t open. I didn’t hear the motor as usual in any of the aforementioned instances.

After manually opening the trunk with my key I noticed the interior light in the trunk didn’t come on. To make matters worse I couldn’t move my sunroof back down from the tilted “up” position (I believe theres a manual way to do it). I had it open during dinner to vent some hot air…

AND TO MAKE THINGS EVEN WORSE my power windows dont work too!!! WTF is happenning!?

PS the internal lights don’t illuminate when I open the doors!!!

Ive checked other things for functionality (headlights, tailights, foot well lights, etc) and they seem fine.

Now Im trying to see if its the fuses. I know theyre listed in the manual, but I wanted feedback here and any diagnostic insight, if any. THANK YOU GUYS.

These are the fuses Ive targeted so far: 30, 38. Also, are fuses 22 and 23 (front & rear doors) for the windows?

I have a feeling this is more than fuses…

I’m thinking that your battery is not liking the cold and is spazzing out.

Have you checked any of the fuses to see if they are blown, it’s weird how you have so many different things not work.

Electrical is always tough. Good for you this site is here.

To start it seems like too many things have gone bad at once. There are many fuses that would have to blow to effect that many things.

Sounds like a body control module failure. Or the relay/fuse for the body control module. The fuses are located in the panel just inside the door and dash gap on the dash side.

I would pull the fuses and then go from there. If you find no blown fuses I would look next to the body control module.

The last question I had was did the car start and run?

Good info, start with all these and go from there. Also check and make sure your battery terminal connections are solid & not corroded or anything to make sure consistent power is getting where it needs to be and hasn’t blown a fuse due to that.

The fuses look ok (I wish it was just the fuses). I doubt its the cold tho- I live in socal and the low last night was 50 F degrees.

I checked the fuses and they look good (the “U” link is still connected).

Tell me more about the body control module…

Car started and ran faultlessly on sat, and up to sunday night, when everything went at once. I was able to open my trunk 2 hours before I realized I had a problem.

The battery is only 2 years old and their terminals are clean. Didn’t see anything unusual there.

PS II- The footwell lights dont come on as well.

Will the car start and run? This will help to rule out stuff.

The car starts and runs just fine.
