From S4 to S3

Traded my 2010 S4 in for S3 today.

After all the DSG drama I had, it was time to go. Under plan they swapped both pc boards out. That worked for 20 000 km. As I went out plan the speed sensor started messing about in the gbox. Got that sorted. 10 days later i had a low speed shudder in 2nd gear. New clutch pack was fitted. 3 months later I can’t select Reverse, misses 2nd 4th and 6th gear. Error shows solenoid on Mechatronics is faulty. Car is now on 138 000km.

Thats when I decided enough was enough.

Got this today. Not as quick but I like the changes inside and out. B&O sound system is way better then the MMI setup in the S4. A couple of mods and it should be running close to my old fuel guzzler.

From my side, keep safe and I’ll pop in to watch the progress you guys are making. Cheers for now

Pretty cool. How do you find the size? How tall are you?

Cheers

Wow what a headache. If you can post that up in the A3 section as well. I would love to see the interior and a motor shot. That is the 2.0t still right.

Always great to hear toughts on other audi platforms. How is the interior space vs the S4

Nice swap and congrats.

My buddy’s little brother went from A4 to S3 and loves it. Kinda funny because it seems like it’s about the same size as the B5 S4. I think it’s a great little package. I look forward to seeing where the platform goes as the tuners continue to develop everything.

Look forward to hearing more and seeing some more pics.

IMHO this car is perfect at stage2, it even feels faster than a stage2 s4 (both being on crappy 91oct), probably due to the boost surge and the lower gears seem shorter, so it redlines faster.

Great fun.

The turbo lag is almost non-existent after a few mods too.

Enjoy!

First impressions after a long distance drive is that it can hold its own vs the S4. It lacks the grunt and sound of my modified S4, but thats was to be expected. The steering feel is the only thing I can criticize. Not much of that. Much lighter on fuel. Speedo cruise on at 140 kmh I was getting 8.8 ltrs/100.

It handles much better then the S3 8P and close to the S4. Boot space is far less, seats are more comfy. B&O sound is fantastic. Adaptive Cruise Control is a added plus. This car has got great headlights. It’s pretty roomy inside and tall folk should fit with ease. Rear leg room is less then the S4.
I stuck my S4’s rims on after my tests. Had to add spigot rings as the diameter of the hubs where smaller.

Did some tests before I start doing mods. 1 up in the car, 1/4 tank 95 ron fuel. Did 2 runs on level ground to get my base line results. Outside temp 15 deg C, elevation 300 ft asl.

Pretty impressive. The launch control isn’t as brutal as the S4. Almost feels like it feeds the power in as it gets off the line. Not that hard kick in the back as the S4.

Next week i fit the VW 600R intake, Catless Downpipe and JB1 plug and play. I’ll try and go past a Dyno before I do the mods.
My 1st black car, it’s all ready a pita to clean
