Yup, fuel is my main issue along with Cylinder 5. I had a nice chat with Count. Confirmed all the issues and helped me to figure out whats going on. I was going to wait and use up all my fuel but instead I went and added 3 and a half gal of 100 to my tank which probably had about 8 gallons in the tank. The car smoothed out and gained back quite a lot of power. Next I’m going to take apart the harness on 5 and see what I can find.
Just go find a junked 3.0 and cut a connector off of it and solder it on your harness or use some good environmental splices.
I’m not sure I understand your fuel issue?? You have 93 available at the pump or you don’t? or are you only trying to mix 91 with 100 to save money? I think your making this really hard on yourself…but hey the B8 guys run race gas on their DDs…lol
91 is the only gas available here unless I go to VP Racing which there is only 1 in my City where they have 93 and 100 available at $6.97 and $8.89 a gallon. Since I had already put the 91 in, instead of driving the whole tank empty and filling up again with what I wanted I knew it would take me a week or two before i used the whole tank since it was damn near full and I didn’t want to wait that long or drive it with wrong fuel so topped off with a little bit of 100 to bring my octane up. Count said mixing is fine as long as I Math it right. I am at like a 60/40 mix of 91 and 100 so I figure I’m sitting at like 94/95 octane right now or somwhere around there.
When I’m empty I will refill with the 93 or maybe the 100 with a little 93 in it? The tune adapts to 98 right? to me 7 or 9$ a gallon really is not much difference, why pay damn near double what I was paying before per gallon when for a little more I could just run at 98. I might as well right? It seems to me like it would be better for the engine, being higher quality fuel with cooling additives and stuff they use. Plus so far I’ve only had it up to about 95 I’d say at the most and it felt great, I’m very curious what 98 would feel like.
Finally empty and filled with straight 93, no mixing and it feels great now. I will continue to use 93 from now on, I feel no need or reason to go higher. How it is now with the power and how smooth and proper it feels, I love it. The car should have come from the factory like this.
Exactly! Keep it simple. If you have 93 readily available you’re golden. Wish I did!
