My dash keeps showing the fuel door is open, it will stay on, then turn off, back on for a second, then off.
Question is do I need to buy the lock for the door for this sensor or is there a piece I missed that triggers this sensor?

This maybe? Not a solution so to speak but a work around.

Hmm that makes me think a bit because of the quote about the caps. I just replaced the cap recently, it was oem from my dealer. The random on/off makes me think sensor. Now I am curious to how it reads the door is closed. I guess I’ll go to some reading
The B6 gas caps are magnetic and there’s a sensor that reads when they are screwed in. I guess mine went bad and I followed that link above to disconnect the sensor, and it worked. No more light, cleaned up my rear cushion a bit since it was out too.
I haven’t looked at it yet but I have issues with my fuel tank stuff. I don’t know if its all related nor do I really like working on my car in the cold so I have just been putting off looking at it
