fuel leak @ HPFP fitting

So I found a replacement fitting for my HPFP (I had stupidly cross threaded the fuel line to the old fitting). Anyone know the torque spec for the fitting or anything you need to do “special” when installing these into the HPFP? Now I’m getting a leak between the fitting and the HPFP - not the fuel line and the brass fitting. The fitting isn’t sealed in some way is it?

on the reinstall, I was OH SO careful about getting everything lined up perfectly and only hand tightening at first before using a wrench on anything…

Lol, and I thought it could only happen to me :-[

So easy to cross thread those fittings. :o Lesson learned though, if you can’t get the banjo fitting finger tight then don’t bring a wrench close to it.

Such a pain to find a replacement fitting as Audi doesn’t provide as a separate part >:(

Anyway, I can’t recall the torque specs for it, I will see if I can find it for you unless someone else have it handy. Did you reinstalled the supplied crush washer after removing the old fitting? I just installed the old washer, tightened and torqued the replacement fitting, job done. Should not leak if the washer is in place.

glad I’m not the only one… I had to source a used pump and pull off the fitting to use in the known good pump.

Washer?! well shit. I didn’t see any crush washer. that is what I was wondering. I thought it should have one. I’ll inspect. that would explain why is leaking…

Yup. that was it. Looked at the spare HPFP and the washer was there. So, everything is back together and no leaks. Now, to finish sorting out my misfire issue. cheers!

That’s great, glad you got it sorted out, such an easy thing to miss! What was the torque figure used in the end?

I used MDUBZ guide - but didn’t have a torque wrench that works with the fuel lines - so I just tightened to “feel”.
