Fuel Pressure (Low Pressure)

Hi Everyone

I hope everyone is keeping well.

Well the car will not stay running after starting. Low pressure fault issued which history showed this has been long a couple of times. I have been having misfires for sometime. Checked the low pressure side of the fuel system which checked out. I checked the high pressure pumps and it appears both have failed. Reading 3ohms on each of them where they should read 450 to 1000ohms.

Has anyone had the high pressure pumps fail?

The high pressure pumps do tend to fail for a number or reasons. So that wouldn’t be out of the norm. If you do found out what failed on the pump please let us know. So we can try to make sense of the more common issues with the hi pressure pumps.

Will do. Going to spend some more time on the car today since the HP pumps are $480 each but I am sure that is the issue. Will see how it goes.

Isn’t it strange that both went at once?

Curious what’s the mileage.

I think both of mine failed around the same time as well, but more like a week or two apart. It’s been a few years since then so I don’t really remember exactly, but that’s my recollection.

A complete rebuild was done at ~133,000 miles and the issue started at 158,000. I did not replace the pumps during the rebuild.

Replaced the pumps yesterday and got the car running but there is another issue. The car is having a hard time starting and it appears to be something with the evap system. It seems to be an issue with 2007 and 2008 S6 and require the N80 valve replaced to the latest version. I have not confirmed this as I can’t work on the car today.

Will let you know.

Update: Found a blown fuse due to the HP failing and now the car runs.
