Hey guys I was wondering what is the fuel pressure supposed to be at when it’s idling and is it supposed to drop when I start giving it some gas because when I’m looking at my Ross tech when I start revving it the pressure drops down and jumps up depending on how high I go so far it’s idling at 35.09 up to 35.15 jumping between those. Is that normal at all?
Fuel pressure varies with engine load. 35 bar at idle is normal
When it goes under load it drops them jumps up is that normal or from air leaks
I would use long term fuel trims (at idle) to assess for vacuum leaks.
When you say “jumping”, are you referring to the 0.06 bar difference between the two numbers? That is less than a 1psi fluctuation which is nothing.
I’m saying it jumps by 1 or 2 psi
Do you mean 1 or 2 bar, as 1 or 2 psi on 507 psi (35bar) is insignificant?
Yeah sorry I meant bar but it depends sometimes when I’m sitting idle it’ll go to 32 bar from 35 I see it normally at or if I’m revving it I seen it drop down to 29bar before it went back up
That is completely normal. You will see a quick drop upon releasing the pedal if you are just sitting there blipping the throttle.
You should be looking at both the specified and actual fuel pressure values. The latter should should track the former very closely after factoring in a small lag.
