Fuel pressure regulator (N276)

Hi guys I keep getting this come up every now and then it normally happens at idle. But it’s been more and more lately in the last few days.

I know it’s an open circuit but I’ve checked all wiring and plugs around both HPFP and can not see anything ?
If I clear the DTC codes it disappears for awhile but has come up 3 times in the last 2 days ?

What am I looking at here a new HPFP ?
As I know they don’t sell the fuel regulator valve on its own.
Also what bank is it on 1 or 2 ?
If there is anything else you can think of I appreciate your help.
Where is the best place to get a new HPFP any info would be great.

Here is the DTC read out. There are no other codes at all.
Thanks again guys !

From my experience, modern cars have fuel pressure regulators in the gas tank. I replaced the entire FPR in my 335is not but a couple months ago. I removed the rear seat cushion and it was on the left hand, the LPFP was on the right, looking towards the front of the car. Also, failing FPR will bleed pressure quickly after the car is shut off, as the check valve inside is leaking. Not sure if VCDS can read the LPFP pressure after the engine is shut off…

Steve, if you’re using Vagcom try going to the Engine II group instead of just engine and see if it comes up in there more specific. Also try checking for misfires to see if you are gettting any logged on one Bank alone. Trying to remember if you can unscrew the N276 valves from the HPFP’s or not? See if they have a Bosch or other part # on them, might be able to get them from a manufacturer part #. Audi shows them as a different item but not available separately. I’m away from home otherwise I’d go out and check mine.

Hey Mark,
I am on vagcom although my knowledge on it is limited so what am I looking for in engine 'll group ?

I’ll check misfires and see if there are any higher misfires on bank 1 than bank 2.

It does look like you can unscrew the valve but it seems you can’t get hold of them separately ?

Thanks for this buddy :+1:

Thanks for this i will check this and see if I can test the FPR for the LPFP with VCDS .
I believe ours is under the rear seat as well.

Nice one for this :+1:

You may have to wait if you already cleared the fault in the “Engine” module but if it happens again check the faults in the “Engine II” module first. It should be in under the Drivetrain tab, when you first open it up it defaults to the installed Tab. I haven’t tried it on the RS5 but it may work. I know I’ve seen the N276 valves for some Audi products for sale in the aftermarket available separately from the pump, just not sure if the version on the RS5 is available in the aftermarket separately.

Ok mate I’ll have to wait to get the code again as I did clear it but I’ll have a look and see if there is anymore info in there.

I’ve seen other N276 valves but sadly not ours as of yet but I’ll keep looking hopefully I’ll find one if not it will have to be a new HPFP.
If you find anything at all please let me know.

I looked at fuel trim today and it’s all bang on at 0.
Misfires were all around 40 to 60 apart from cylinder 4 was 140 odd and cylinder 7 was 120 ?

Misfires per x 1000 were all reading 0

Thanks buddy :blush::+1:
