Hey guys how do you know if the fuel pump in the tank is failing?
When I had LPFP failing, after I started a car cold, while it was running at higher rpm I had it trop once for a 200-300 rpm down.
Hmm I don’t think it’s the high pressure for my case since it’s both sides misfiring at idle I really am thinking it’s the one in the tank
Check your rail pressure. If actual pressure is close to specified, I would doubt that it is a problem.
You can also drain your fuel pressure, or wait over night and check the rail pressure in the morning. Fuel rail should be empty by morning, and when you check rail pressure with engine off it should go to around 8 bar and stay in there for a bit. If it drops quickly, it might have an internal leak.
What should specified pressure be? It’s at 30 31 31.50 32 33 jumping around a bit at idle and the temp is at middle
It seems to stay around 34 to 35 jumping back and forth and it said for electric fuel pump 1/2 load was at 49.5%
In measuring blocks go to 140. Field 2 shows specified fuel pressure and field 3 shows acutal fuel pressure. They should be close together.
Okay thank you I’ll check that
34.95 is spec
I see it keeps jumping around 34 35
I was only able to check for a min when I get home I’ll take a longer look
I doubt it’s a air leak I just changed the intake manifold gaskets and I did have to sand one of the spacers smooth since it was rough and I did smoke test the car
If the specified vs actual fuel pressure isn’t much off i would doubt that this is the culprit.
Hmm I’ll watch the pressure when I drive home and see what happens
