Hate seeing the ‘I JUST BOUGHT A PES SUPERCHARGER!’ threads because I know they’ll always be followed within 12-24 months by ‘PES supercharger for sale’ threads

It’s really incredible to think back to all the guys who fought and fought and fought for the PES kits and the VF kits and claimed they were great and argued against the facts…only to then see them ALL selling the kits within a very short time frame for a $6,000-8,000 loss on the kit after they realise they were fleeced. I hate seeing it and it’s one of the reasons that I do my best to help people avoid the same trap (or at least arm them with a realistic expectation of what the kit will deliver as opposed to claims made by the company, or the guy(s) they PAY to go on the forums and help flleece new people.

Does he really believe this is a selling point? I would never admit a number that low.

My car probably makes that NA as it sits…lol

yeah, I don’t lknow. He was a pretty nice guy. He bought a B5 Avant that either was stage 3 or he was gonig to make stage 3.

THe whole PES thing was fucking annoying. He pre-announced buyign it…everyone told him STOP MOTHERFUCKER STOP!! and then he bought it.

Ya I spoke to him through PMs about his suspension setup because his car looked amazing and he was a really nice dude. Too bad he ended up being another PES sucker. I try to steer people in the right direction with tune information or other parts I have, but the fight is sometimes not worth when they just consider me to be bias or on the JHM bandwagon. There aren’t any other companies out there though that have proven that they can reliably provide the B6/B7 S4 platform with quality parts that make power so why fight the truth.

Effing PES. I helped talk a local S5 owner out of a PES S/C kit for his car. He’s like “but they’re giving me such a great deal I can’t even tell you the price”. I responded by asking him if it was the promo price (around $8-9K iirc). His look changed change and he nodded his head. At that point he realized I had done more research that him and listened a bit more to what I had to say…lol. Tried to get him to wait for JHM/TTS or at least get the APR s/c if he couldn’t. He ended up getting a 996. Couldn’t argue with that. It sucks seeing people spend 10K on empty promises so I had a mission accomplished feeling 8)

I seriously cringe when people announce their PES purchase. I feel terrible for them.

They will say they love how the car is, but the fact is they could have felt that for $3500 in mods rather than $14,000.

The only PES kit taht has done reasonably well was spinner’s in the UK on his S5. he ran 12.4 I believe. That’s pretty solid and because he got in on the $8,000 half price special that PES offered (in exchange for promoting the kit to get them buyers) I can’t really say it’s terrible in that case.

Of course an S5 with a JHM tune, full exhaust, LW flywheel and JHM clutch would probably run a similar time for about $5,000. The JHM RS4s are faster than his car…all motor.

I remember when I got my headers on teh B7 and then the jhm tune. I ran the guy with the PES kit and he was pissed. Needless to say some people just wont lisen and there is nothing you can do. thanks for sites like AR to keep it real. the one best thread I keep pointing people to is the one where that 4.2S4 guy or what ever his name is got the kit and then went out after he sold the car and said how shitty the kit and PES was.

Still PES will package a pile of shit for so cheap people will just hope it works.

didn’t think they raced at all did they?..it was just a whole lot of him convincing himself PES was great…you guys explaining that it is impossible based on the blower…and guys like me watching going ‘wow…who are these mean naysayers?’…until it became obvious that PES was indeed a joke and the kits were high 12s @ 110 type of performers…nothing like the promised 400 whp.

I remember sticking up for b6guy…I felt bad for him. THe pack was sacrificing a member’s feelings to protect the forum though, so in hindsight it all made sense. Sure was interesting to watch him defend PES…meanwhile all along they were fucking him (and his insurance/warranty company) over BIG TIME. They went ahead with 2 textbook cases of fraud on his car alone. It was incredible.

poor guy…he was 3 years early. If he came on the scene today, he’d have an S4 with a JHM blower and headers and a bunch of great parts, and would love his car. Instead, he lost about $20,000 in 1 year of owning his B6, and left the brand scarred.

B6guy42 sold his car to a guy who had his own forum who claimed he was going to do all kinds of performance testing on the PES kit etc. etc and he was buying it just to give back info to the community. The guy did fuck all really, and ended up brainwashed into thinking it was a supercar because he pulled 1 car length on richib86’ RS4 (that had a bunch of not-helping mods on it). It was funny how the new owner would fight for the car and argue against everyone. Must be contageous.

B6guy42 was a nice guy though…enthusiastic as hell, and didn’t quite understand the skepticism about his choices. Many forum guys get mad when you buy the wrong thing because they know you’re going to feel like shit in 6 months and be poorer for it and they kind of want to protect you from yourself. Like the Unitronic tuned B6 guy who was on there flapping away about how great it was etc. Just set himself up for a disappointment and his antagonistic style earned him a giant e-battle rather than sympathy. Funny thing is his car is for sale now…and I will predict that in the next 24 months it ends up JHM tuned anyway.

Saki are you referring to MDub? With the UNI tuned avant that couldn’t make it to the track because of family? His engine ended up taking a shit, he had to replace all his timing chains and guides I think. Yet he was still selling the car as mint. He also started at like $19,500 and last time I saw he was down to $14,500. He was probably a nice guy too, but when he got called out to prove his tune was awesome by running the 1/4 he just made excuses. The car was very good looking, just needed a better tune…

He talks about going custom tune with a nitrous set up too. Not sure what other nitrous setup he has found…but like usual I’m sure it was just a bluff.
