ahaha less wear and tear?
one tire, or a set of front pads that you will go through in just one road coarse visit will easily eclipse the price for that axle you might break at the 1/4 mile. not to mention the other three tires, rear brakes, rotors every now and then, full tank of race fuel, and hours of WOT time and associated heat involved PLUS exponential more wear and tear on your clutch than you will ever see at the strip.
have any of you excuse ridden nancy’s ever been to the 1/4 mile? its really not that hard on your car if you get the right parts and don’t drive like a complete ass. none of your silly excuses hold water.
sure there’s a million excuses why you probably shouldnt take your car to the track, insurance void always made me nervous. those same excuses directely transfer over to pushing your car on the street, with safety precautions plummeting like a stone. if you wanna build your car just for you, then awesome, no problem there. A lot of people do that actually, they either lurk silently, or couldn’t care less about forums. to the others, dont brag about it, dont expect blind praise, dont post dyno’s, and most of all, dont push a companies product in the process of it all. if you do any of that however, expect to be called out. its not outrageous by any means. i mean, claim you can fly like superman, you better jump off a building and prove it or we’re all going to laugh at you.
catastrophic failure? please point to more than a couple isololated incidents, if you can even find any. 01E’s are pretty stout. sure your synchro’s might wear out after 100k on hard k04 shifting, but its not like you guys are snapping prop shafts or shearing gears. hell, Hood cut numerous 1.5-1.6’s over the years with only a handfull of failures to the ACTUAL trans, and this was on 01A’s(and a 2L revving much higher on launch). 99% of the time you guys might pop a diff, or snap an axle. which ill give you, is a bitch when you’re no where near home. but 2 things, you guys arent launching out on the road somewhere AWAY from your house/shop? do you only ever drop the clutch in the dealership service bay ‘just in case i break something’? and isn’t situations like this what you pay $60 a year for AAA?
