Going full retard

On the old C5 S6? I have a body shop who can do pretty much anything, but at a cost. Has it been done before? Roughly how many hours work are we talking about? I am probably being charged somewhere between $60-100 per hour, so costs add up quick. If doable, Id definitely go B8. BTW, get ready for the flaming to begin LOL

I’d think the b8 front end would be incredibly unique.

Yeah, I was just checking it out. I think it would be a monster project. You would probably have to start with an aftermarket fiberglass front bumper, and then everything from there would obviously be a lot of custom work. I think the hood latch would be a big issue, as the grill attaches to the C5 hood, but not on the B8 (from what I can tell)

I wouldnt be surprised if it ended up costing $10k when all is said and done

Well, a decision has been made. After all was said and done I decided to go with the car with the best gas mileage… the C6 S6.

Should have the car within a week, and then it will be sent down to CountVohn to work his magic on it.

Nice! This should be interesting.

You also make me feel good about my car decisions, because I have way less of a problem than you, lol

Wow, looks awesome! Looking forward to the results.

Congrats, man - nice looking car!

Thanks man!

Yeah, for the last ten years or so all I have bought were ‘beaters’ that needed work, so I never wasted too much time on the decision when buying one. However, I found that even though I got them for cheap, I wound up dumping a bunch of cash into them in the end.

So, this time around I decided to start with something that was in a bit better shape, and work from there. However, with more money riding on the decision, I definitely had more trouble making one. Hopefully this damn v10 doesnt end up breaking the bank.

Thanks guys!

Funny - mileage is the last thing on my list.

For me it is very close to the top, right behind number of cup holders

Interesting choice. Sounds like you have modification plans for it already? Seems like it has a lot of potential. I’ve briefly mulled over them before.

Yeah, I purchased the car with the intent of modding it. I need to have it looked over first to make sure there are no major issues. If all checks out, the plan is headers, catback, coilovers, lightweight wheels, ECU/TCU tune, and all the other maintenance stuff that has to be done on these cars (carbon cleaning, coil packs, injectors, 02 sensors, etc). And for exterior, RS6 grill, and blackout all the chrome on the car. Pretty much copy the blacked out A6 that I posted earlier, minus the eyebrows.

This could be silly with a CV tune. Nice pickup! Didn’t b6joe know someone with the same car? Could be a useful resource

I really want someone to go full jhm bolt on with one of the v10 cars. In fact so does CV so this could definitely Italy get interesting. We were reading through the study guide one night and there’s lots of potential. The cats are kinda nuts. The exhaust isn’t great. The tune is soooooooooo neutered. They have carbon.

I reckon there’s probably 70 hp in it… 20 from carbon and 50 from tune decat and exhaust. That’s a fun car.

You know it already has headers right? So you can cross that off the list.

I remembered that Beemercer posted some pics and the stock ones looked pretty nice

However, when CountVohn and I were talking about the potential upgrades for the car, I was pretty sure he was talking about doing a custom set. I could be wrong though, maybe he was just talking about modifying the stock ones with a straight pipe cat delete. Ill have to ask him next time we speak. Are the stock ones equal length?

Yeah, I am hoping to be that guinea pig. LOL

Copy of the v10 study guide here, if anyone is interested

According to the study guide, it looks like a 2-1-2 manifold runner design is used. Apparently, it is designed to achieve scavenging like a 5 into 1 header would. I have no idea how well it works compared to a true header.

I read somewhere that the stock catback is 2.25 inch. Considering JHM does 2.75 for the RS4, you would think it could gain a lot from a bigger diameter catback.
