Why isn’t that dog buckled up!!!
How much exercise does he require? I grew up with a lab, so that would be my clear choice, but the lady has never been a dog owner and will go crazy over all the shedding. Not to mention we both work about 40 min from home, so only a quick walk in the a.m. and one in the evening. Nothing worse than a lab who doesn’t get exercise.
The labradoodle seems like a possibility, hopefully with the temperament of a lab and not a poodle lol. otherwise will have to go with a smaller breed I think.
He’s fairly high energy, but I generally take him out for an hour - hour and a half every night for a walk. Weekends he gets a bit more and he seems to do well with that kind of schedule. We also have a treadmill and he loves to run on that if the weather isn’t cooperating or we don’t feel like taking him out for one reason or another.
He gets left home every day while my wife and I are at work, no damage, no chewing, etc. That’s generally the easiest way to see if the dog is getting bored or under exercised - they start misbehaving or chewing stuff - especially labs as you’ve mentioned. Our guy is definitely more lab personality than poodle. We’ve met some others more on the poodle side and they can be a bit more nervous or frantic for sure.
I don’t have my own dog but I do have a bunch of office dogs.

Carlos is the retired Taco Bell dog and yes he loves burritos. He will literally fuck any female dog that stands still hear him for more than 2 seconds.

And then this is Dupri the Saint Bernard. He’s also the newest puppy in the office. He likes climbing on top of Ichi who stands up every so often and sends him flying.

And yes, I have a cat at home and she loves the sound of V8s. You can see a great example of this in my exhaust sound video.
Tell us more about “office dogs”!
^^ Ya I’d like to know more as well. I wish my office was pro dog.
Can I adopt Yuma?
Oddly, it seems pretty common around here with technology companies. But I mean it’s pretty awesome especially if you’re thinking about buying a dog because you don’t have to worry about leaving him at home. You also get the added benefit of them getting used to being around other people and dogs so it can be quite beneficial for their behavior.
The seven dogs I just shared is only like half of all the dogs too, but they’re the ones that are there every day.
One guy has 3 Australian Shepherds that are all competition frisbee dogs but only brings them in occasionally.
One girl has 2 dachshunds but I fucking can’t stand her dogs because they’re owner dogs. They only like her and her husband and they fight with all the other dogs in the office.
There’s a 3rd puppy that’s an unknown mix named Summit who is actually awesome because she’s so friendly. I’ll try and get a pic of her next time she’s in the office.
There’s a girl with an English bulldog, one with a collie, one with a poodle. One guy has 2 mastiffs and they are like his 2 goons that do whatever he says and never leave his office unless he’s taking them outside. Another guys has a white Labrador retriever.
At this point I’m really into the idea of getting my own dog, I just have my cat who is on her last leg right now, so I don’t want to stress her last days out by introducing a crazy puppy into her life. But I foresee a German Shepherd purchase in the next 6 months or so.
Haha, yeah he is awesome. I’ll see if I can get some video of the 3 puppies wrestling.
MDUBZ - very cool!
I’ve always worked in the pharma/medical device industry. Bringing an animal to work would be like taking a dump on the CEO’s desk, lighting it on fire, and dancing naked around the flames.
Haha yeah I could only imagine being wheeled into surgery and find a pile of shit on the floor in the hallway or have a dog start barking when we passed its owner’s office.
We don’t have clients in our building on a regular basis, but even when we do they’re happy to see a bunch of dogs and even bring their own dogs sometimes
Here’s Summit as promised.

Sammy. She’s a pitbull/pointer mix.
Pretty good thread, guess I might as well chime in!
I had a childhood “sheltie” that was ~55-60lbs, so definitley a mix of sheltie & collie. I saved my money and bought him at the end of first grade with nothing bigger than a $5 (most of it being $1 and less) at a total cost of $124 (dad paid the last dollar so I wouldn’t go home empty in the wallet). He was my best bud till Freshman year of college when we finally lost him.
Then when I got married a couple years back, my wife’s yellow lab (Honey) became part of the family. It was the three of us until last thanksgiving when we picked up the newest addition (Woody) who is an English Setter. I wanted a gundog for bird hunting as well as a family dog and he’s fit right in perfect.
here’s the litter at 6 weeks

I was in Cervia, Italy all week at an equipment fabricator.
Counted 3 dogs in their office. Kind of strange having a dog bark at you when you walk in for a business meeting.
Thankfully none on their factory floor!
Dog-sitting for the folks tonight. Living alone for 7+ years now, I really miss having a dog around. These guys are great. They follow me around everywhere - not used to that lol

We lost 2 of our old friends in the matter of a month. Sucked. Our remaining dog is kind of freaked out but seems to be adjusting slowly each day. Tough stretch for our household of late…miss them
^^ sorry to hear that. Very tough to lose such close members of the household. I’ve been through it several times.
Ya me too. They lived long happy lives at least I would like to think we gave them that. 13 and 15.

Not our finest moment but hey my girlfriend gets a kick out of dressing em up at Halloween. They didn’t seem to mind.

Olive is stuck with us now. The other two taught her well. She’s pretty chill and relaxed.
Sorry for your loss Happy. I have been a lifelong dog owner and I can relate to your feelings. We currently have 3 dogs. Our first English Mastiff (Gus) lived to age 13, when he was 7, we got Maggie, hoping she would pick up some of Gus’s traits and pass them along to our next dog, which she did and Kaiden reminds us so much of Gus. We just saved Nayla a couple months ago, and she fits quite well with our family. Here they are:
Maggie (9 year old Saint Bernard)
