Plenty of parts sitting around the house as I wait for everything to come together. Here’s a quick list of everything that’s waiting to be installed:
RS Flat Bottom Steering wheel
RS6 diffuser + RS ovals *Looking into sourcing new RS ovals from JHM
RS6 Headlights
Carbon fiber paddle shifters, vinyl for steering wheel air bag *May or may not keep the vinyl
To come will be:
Bilstein Coilovers *Looking at buying/installing these in August
RS6 Red Calipers w/ LW rotors
RS6 Bumper (and components) *Trying to source one… deadline hopefully sometime in July-October
Maxton-Design RS6 spoiler, side skirts and rear side skirts
I’m also looking into some OEM Carbon Optic package components too as SIX’s car looks absolutely stunning. Focusing more on the inside than outside for now until I figure out what I want to do there.
RS6 door handles, black piano dash, CF paddle shifters and JHM RS oval tips just came in! Wish Poland would ship that last RS6 headlight, so I could add them to this picture!
Man, talk about kicking you when you’re down! My shop noticed a coolant leak, and come to find that the water pump is bad. Replace the pump and thermostat assembly, and then find a bad oil cooler. And of course when doing their 360 inspection find cracked bushings on the front lower control arms. Oh and I’m getting the coilovers installed still (with all new strut mounts). BLEEDING money! Lol
I think it makes my S6 in the background look like a guppy, lol. Can’t wait to put new lens on the RS6 headlights and install them both together. Real carbon fiber rings and blacked out badges to come! (No, I’m not keeping the RS6 badge).
But here’s the shit news: noticed a CEL pop up out of nowhere this evening driving around the town. The reason I worry is because preventative maintenance is all I’ve ever known with this car. Most things have already been replaced within the last year. Spark plugs, coils, injectors, oil separators, carbon cleaned, SAI delete + tune, belts replaced, gaskets, possibly the whole coolant system minus the radiator.
This means there’s only a select few potential issues: spark plugs (I went 1 degree cooler, but drive like a mad man so unlikely the issue), battery, O2 sensors? I’m not sure what else it could be. The car is still driving in great shape, engine at idle is smooth, and no abnormal behavior from what I can tell. Gonna have my shop run the codes tomorrow and see what’s causing the madness.
If it’s and O2, I hope it’s one of the accessible ones. The thought of dropping the engine for an O2 terrifies me because I figure I may as well do more PM while there and that’s $$$ :-\
Exactly. I’m terrified to go in and have that come up. Not in the position to shell out over $2K on labor then potentially $1-2K on replacing and relocating those sensors. IF it is the sensors, then man I’d love to have those headers go in. Wishful thinking! Hopefully it’s something else and I can kick that can down the road.
Thanks! I got the paddles from eBay, and they should be a direct fitment for your paddle (even the OEM). My one concern is I’m using a TTRS paddle from 2012-2014 and Audi changed the paddles to a black design where they’re actually curved. This curvature doesn’t allow my particular paddles to stick 100%. Will have to do some R&D to make it work. I like them a lot though!
OK, shop says the fuel mixture is running lean. One thing I forgot is the HPFP could be bad, which I’m thinking is more likely than o2 sensors. Let’s hope so!
EDIT: It was just a leak! All praise to the car gods for sparing me today! LOL
And the S6 V10 journey has come to an abrupt and tragic end. It’s disappointing, and I’m left with remnants of what could have been. Unfortunately, last Friday I was turning onto a street when a BMW switched lanes as I made my turn and caused this freak incident. I still don’t know how it all unfolded, or how they didn’t see me initiate the turn. Here’s the aftermath:
It was totaled, which I figured but was obviously hoping against. There’s a very clean 2009 S6 in Dallas that I’m looking at, but it’s in a pending deal. If that falls through, my next project car I’m looking at is a 2013-2015 Audi RS5. I think that could be a really fun daily driver!
I’m going to take a check from the insurance company. I’m curious to see where it ends up. Besides the fenders, bumper, headlights and probably some suspension damage to the driver’s side front which took the damage… I feel like it could be rebuilt. I just don’t have the time or quite frankly cash on hand to do the buy back and work done.
If I cannot find a S6, then I will sell the rare RS6 front bumper (and components), JHM 2.75 catback exhaust and RS6 headlights.
Sorry for your loos brother, it’s real tough when you put a lot into your car to have it end like this. I hope the insurance company gives you a decent amount so you can get back into something similar, or dare i say the new RS6.
