Hang up during VCDS auto-scan

Anyone have problems with certain ECU’s hanging up an auto-scan with the Ross-tech VAGCOM? I had a strange problem yesterday, where the AWD controller (address 22) was hanging up during the auto-scan. The software wasn’t crashing, the scan just sat there seemingly stopped. I hit the ‘done’ button and the scan completed, however, the subsequent print out showed no errors at the beginning lines but the module scan was vacant from the subsequent report. I can post the report if this is confusing.

Made my flash take 2 hrs because the techs couldn’t figure out how to clear DTC’s and seemed to think the sky was falling. The car was finally returned to me with all the DTC’s still there and I promptly cleared them without issue.

I don’t believe there is anything wrong with the AWD ECU @22, but am curious if this is common. The problem didn’t really systematically repeat itself. I had the issue occur sometimes with car off and sometimes with it on (if I remember correctly).

There’s a couple of scans near the end that hang it.

43, 44 or 45…maybe 46 are the culprits on this 12.2 bug for the B7 Rs4. Modules you don’t have so you need to uncheck them when you do an autoscan.

I usually let it figure out which ecu’s are there automatically, believe it’s a conf thing you do in the settings.

Interesting point about 12.12, I believe the first time I’ve used the new VCDS build (12.14?). I’ll try with the 12.12 beta and see if the problem also happens there. Guessing it’s a Ross-Tech problem then… 8)

yup

check RS246.com in the RS4 B7 section and you’ll see the thread.

I’ve had mine hang up a few times as well. Don’t remember what point. Only happens with a full autoscan

Found the thread mentioned above if anyone cares: http://forum.rs246.com/viewtopic.php?f=35&t=109189&sid=10c28ca9c29392fa54e8881309c51904

Definitely a problem with new vcds, nothing to see here…
