having trouble finding replacement windshield

My car has the camera for the lane keeping feature and rain sense wipers.

I have a huge crack in my windshield. I am being told there is nothing but Audi glass available, which will cost me $1200 installed. This seems ridiculous to me. Anyone have some insight on this issue?

It’s an '08 S6. I do not have glass coverage so this is out of pocket.

From a quick Google search, it looks like there’s aftermarket for around $255 at DIY Autoglass. If you wanted OEM, it looks like the Audi wholesalers sell the OEM for $566.

Here’s the part number: 4F0-845-099-AA-NVB.

Keep in mind this doesn’t include install, but it doesn’t take very long for installation.

When I purchased my 2008 about 5 months ago, it had a pre-existing crack and I had the windshield changed at Safe-Lite Autoglass. It was about $350.

I agree that is the correct p/n.

I am still not finding ANY aftermarket source. Safelite says it’s dealer only as well.

When I go to the DIY Autoglass site, it does not show any windshield for an '08 S6.

I am desperate for someone to prove me wrong.

This is not the one that accommodates the camera in the windshield for the lane departure system. That’s the problem.

Wondering if there’s a way to turn off the lane departure system option in VCDS so I don’t get any errors.

I never use it, and I’m happy to save $800+ by using the regular windshield.

I imagine it can be coded out.
