Is there a way to disassemble the headlights on these completely? I have the headlight error on my car, so I bought a headlight on ebay to scavenge parts from or rebuild to replace mine. The wires on the one I bought were visibly disintegrating so I though I would tear it apart and redo the wiring but after removing every screw I could access I couldn’t see anyway to remove the main headlight housing. I figured after a while I’d just get it apart by any means just to see if I could figure out how they came apart (so I could fix the broken one currently on my car), even with less than subtle means (hammer/long screwdriver) they still won’t come apart. So I’m wondering if there is a procedure to fix them or do they just need to be replaced if they wiring is damaged?
If you dont have afs, then projector can come out just need some twisting. But for afs need disassemble complete headlight.
I done couple times, on mine. and im still in process of replacing d2s projector with led projector.
Put in oven on 180 °C for couple of minutes and then with flat screwdriver try to separate glass from box, not easy but it will go

You need to scan what code you have for your headlights. If you have a burned adaptive headlight ballast you can get one for a few bucks from ebay. I had to replace mine, worked fine after that… All C6 S6:s have adaptive headlights, cannot even code them out, because it would disable the DRL:s.
A new s6 headlight assembly is $2500 a piece from audi (I called and asked)
Might be cheaper somewhere else if they stocked a pair
I did scan mine, I get “Implausible Signal” - I’m thinking it’s wiring but last time I had them off I didn’t notice anything in particular:

I have afs, even with the front glass off how do you get it apart? It seems like there are a few torx screws you can’t get to no matter what you do
Under 3 it’s spring, remove that first
1 Philips
2 hex - just turn for 90° and its unlocked to pull out
3 it’s little tricky, need small flat screwdriver to pull clip behind ball and then bigger flat screwdriver to push housing out from ball joint
On my oem s6 headlight, all wiring protection it’s cracking like chips
Thanks, that makes more sense. I didn’t realize you could remove the grey reflective material behind the glass like that. The wires on the one I bought from ebay were all cracked, I looked at the one on my car currently when I had them off last and didn’t really notice it but I need to replace the cooling fan so I’ll have them off again here shortly and I’ll check again
