Hello, introduction

Hello,
I wanted to introduce myself instead of just continuing to lurk. I’m Lance and currently am living in Stuttgart, Germany. I have a 07 S4 DTM, 6MT that is bone stock aside from some BBS RGRs. I recently had the motor/clutch/flywheel replaced courtesy of Audi here in Germany. I have a couple mods that I need to do before my wife kills me for junking up a bedroom with exhaust and RS4 Grille parts. That being said I am thinking of selling the car to purchase a RS4 if I can find a good one to ship over here. I’ve spoke with some of you over on AZ which has been the only forum I’ve used. It’s been decent and I’ve enjoyed most of the people/content. I just needed a little change of pace before I lose my mind with plasti-dip/Poke talk.

Anyway it’s good to be here and look forward to contributing.

Sorry this is the only shitty photo I had at work. I’ll post up a better one tonight.

Welcome Lance.

2 words… moar low ;D

I hear ya. I am on the fence if I go ahead and mod this or sell it for an RS. I’ve gone back and forth on ordering COs in the past 2 weeks or setting that money aside for a potential new car.

RS4…great choice and a natural progression. It just does what the S4 does, but slightly better in just about every way. No offense S4 guys. Hopefully everyone remembers I had a B7 S4 4.2 for 4 years. A quick one too (relatively). But the RS4 offers:

power - a good bit more
gearing - 4.11 ftw
handling - wow
braking - excellent and tough as nails compared to the S4 setup
looks - widebody FTW
sound - also a V8, but a slightly different more interesting sound
interior - same really. Different shifter, different ebrake handle, different steering wheel. Big deal.

All around a nice bump. Straight line speed it’s not crazy though and if you have an S4 with JHM tune and full catless 2.5" exhaust, power/acceleration is really really close (that’s what I had). My S4 went 12.9 @ 107 and my RS4’s best has been 12.7-12.8 @ 108-109. So the RS4 should certainly be quicker than a bolt on S4. At the end of the day The RS4 accomplishes this while being bone stock, with a warranty, and then there are the other improvements listed above to boot.

Cost is a big factor. It’s a much bigger capital outlay, however we can’t forget you’ll get a good chunk of that capital back when you sell. i.e. if it’s $20,000 more than an S4, it’s not going to ‘cost’ $20,000 to upgrade since after 4 years, on most cars you’ll see 50% depreciation and will get back $10,000 of that $20,000 gap. In fact, I’d argue that the rarity of the RS4, and the proliferation of 3.0T engines in the smaller performance models (which to many is not nearly as desirable or exciting as a 4.2 V8 that revs over 8000 RPM) will make the RS4 depreciate at a slightly slowe rate, reducing that financial impact.

I have RS4 envy.

Upgraded

Ok, didn’t do this one.

Upgraded

Upgraded

I wish…sigh…too expensive to modify for just looks.

Upgraded to louder?

Upgraded steering wheel and pedals.

Why didn’t Audi bring the RS4 Avant over…:frowning:

lol that’s awesome. Upgraded well past the RS4 in the power category too.

Hey, you never know…we might see the B8 RS4 Avant over here if you believe the buzz. We will see. I’d much rather see a C6 RS6 Avant. That big boat is insane but I love the look and I love the whole mentalcase engine concept. Will have to wait till 2025 or whatever to import one of those…and by then the A4 Avant will be that fast.

Thanks for the input. I really am leaning towards picking up an RS4. I see the B8 RS4 avants every day and wish I could buy one to bring back to the states when I come back in 3 years.

How widebody do they look vs. the B8 A4/S4…is it as dramatic a difference as the B7 RS4 vs. B7 A4/S4?

A friend in the UK ordered one and said that when he saw it advertised etc. he wasn’t sold on the look…but when he saw one in person, it blew his mind. I figured he was just convincing himself lol.

However when I saw this pic on rs246, it looked REALLY fat…

Isn’t the European Audis warranty different than the North Americas’. I think they only get 2 years instead of 4 years/50K miles.

Yeah they only get 2 years warranty and they pay substantially more for their cars than we do. It’s insane see pics below of S6 avant.

Price of S6 Avant converted is $137,519 USD

Saki they are much wider, I can see them from a distance and there is no mistaking them.
