Hello! Newbie Here

Hey Guys, wanted to finally say hello - and to start participating in some of the threads here as i find AR a good source of information on the RS4. More fact than fiction, and a whole lot less drama than on some of the other sites.

A little about me - I drive an 07 black on black RS4 with 65k miles. It’s a US spec car i bought while living there on a 4 year work program. It was used with 3k on it that a dealer had on his lot at a fantastic price. I traded an 03 A4 in on it and couldn’t have been happier.

Since returning to Canada last year, i’ve been on these (and other) forums and got the bug to start upgrading. My first item was, yep, get a nice carbon clean. Last fall, i took the car down to long island to see Kai at Elite and had him do the CC and put in JHM intake spacers. I had a nice few days down there while i technically ā€œexportedā€ my car in the US for 72 hrs before returning home

Next up was the full JHM short shift kit and JHM weighted shift knob. Had those installed and was amazed at the difference it made. Nice and crisp shifts. Also did the 91 JHM tune.

I decided to put the RS4 away for this past winter. I’m not a huge (who is?) fan of the salt, large pot holes, and generally awful conditions so i went out and bought a beater to drive. Don’t get me wrong…this car has seen plenty of snow but in the state i lived in they used mag chloride not salt and it washed off easily and rust was never an issue. So while the car was parked i started ordering parts. I went full JHM based on a drive i took last fall in somebody else’s car that had been fully done with JHM and i was blown away with how good it drove compared to mine that was still, essentially, stock.

The parts came in and pretty much sat in the garage until last week when i had my shop install all of it over a week: Stage 4 clutch, lightweight flywheel, stern motor mounts, tranny mount, diff mounts, sway bars (f/r) & links, upper control arms, MTM 10mm spacers, drilled out precats, Michelin supersport tires, hawk hps pads all around, and finished it off with fresh engine and transmission oil.

I’ve only had it back for a few days now and am trying desperately to keep my excitement under control (and posted speed limits!). I honestly dont think i felt the RS4 feel this good even when it was new. It drives so much smoother now than it ever did before. This feels like the car Audi should have delivered.

For those thinking about upgrading their Rs4, there are lots of good companies to go with, but, i’m here to say i’m a big fan of JHM. I never had anything but a positive experience with them so i personally would highly recommend them to anyone without hesitation. Do i wish i could get the full JHM exhaust? You bet i do! like everyone else waiting for one but, hey, that’s hopefully going to get resolved soon and i’ll order one when they’re available.

So, while i drive around the city like a little old lady in stop and go traffic putting on the required break in miles for the clutch, i think about the upcoming track days at Mosport. I went a few times last year and really enjoyed myself and loved driving the Rs4 on that track but now with all the upgrades, i honestly cant wait to put this car back on the track. Those 750 city miles cant come soon enough.

happy driving.

Welcome to another Ontarian - sweet. Keep an eye out for the next time we get together. Check out this thread for our last meet: http://audirevolution.net/forum/index.php?topic=722.0

Good to hear you’re doing a proper clutch break in. Be super anal about it. Make it a genuine 750 miles of stop start. Your mod list reads like poetry and I’m sure you have the beginnings of a sick car. Out of interest, is the 91 tune the only option or is there a 93 tune like for the S4’s. Now you’re back in Ontario, PetroCanada 94 is pretty common in metropolitan areas. Just food for thought for your track days.

Oh and post pics!

Welcome! Have you taken your RS4 to Mosport yet? I’ve raced on HP+ pads (one step up from HPS pads) and they faded after a few laps (and that was only Shannonville on a 3400lb car). In other words, I wouldn’t recommend HPS pads at Mosport unless you’re the type to take it really easy.

Hope to meet you at one of the meets if you’re in the GTA.
