Is there a rebuild for the front inner cv joint? I lost mine tonight showing off. Now i need something in a hurry. According to ECS the axle fits the b6 b7 a4 s4 and rs4. I just want to verify.
Yep. However it is only slightly cheaper to buy a new front inner CV joint than a whole new axle when using OEM parts. The additional cost in labor to swap over the joint makes the savings turn into a wash unless you can DIY.
By the way, let me guess. Was it the front driver’s side inner CV joint that broke? I broke like six of those before I got custom axles from the Driveshaft Shop.
I can diy, it got towed to my workplace. I have a 2 post lift to use. And it was passenger front that let go. I was at a stop sign at the off ramp from the highway. A friend was behind me and i was trying to look cool lol. Look where it got me.
So, since I dont have it apart yet im wondering… what fails? Do the splines go where the tripod goes on the shaft or does the tripod just explode? I reached under the car and I can shake the whole axle around on the transmission end.

Yup, that covers it. I have an inner rebuild coming tomorrow. I still dont have it apart yet due to the lift being tied up. Im just curious, how often do the splines on the shaft go bad when these explode? Im afraid Ill get in there and find that the inner kit isnt going to be enough and Ill be stranded for the weekend.
