HELP! transmission mount torque

So… This is why I hate having folks work on my car. but there are things I just can’t do myself (lack of skill & tools).

I had a new clutch put in about a week ago. for the past few days I’ve noticed a “clunk” between gear changes from under the car. I figured it might be the exhaust hitting something. so, I jacked up the car and took a look. here is what I found:

Yeah, something look wrong? so, there is a missing bolt and the other was 2 threads from dropping off. Not sure if you can tell from the picture, but the mounting plate under transmission is also not torqued down - One of the bolts (the one on top center of the picture) is almost completely loose.

1st question: what are the proper torque specs for these bolts.
2nd question: what else should I be checking in case they fucked anything else up…

and those guys installed the clutch… :o

they are a local well respected enthusiast shop… They are getting an ear full tomorrow when they open…

This.

If they left those bolts and nuts loose then it is a safe assumption that they didn’t put red locktite on the flywheel and pressure plate bolts. badtoyz is going through this right now with his clutch.

so - does anyone know the torque specs? :expressionless:

I feel your pain and sympathise. id have a look at every bolt they touched after seeing that.

wow. well, it gets worse… the lower two bolts that hold on the transmission are just sitting in the holes. I’m surprised that the bolts didn’t just fall out.

now this is a case where the tech would be missing and a country wide man hunt for me would start. what are you going to do?

that’s how I’m feeling - I’m sure they are going to want to “make it right”. but knowing there are 7 bolts - just on the outside mounting that were not right - how can I trust that they would do everything correctly the second time? Certainly they need to pay to flatbed the car somewhere. I’m thinking I’d just ask for my $$ back on the install so I can have someone else reperform. If parts were damaged, I would hold them responsible.

what would you guys do?

Thanks for the info - that is very helpful.

OMG wow. That’s terrible

Mdubz that’s cool karma bump for you. Drop this info in the tech section that’s pretty helpful

Any specific spot? Or you know what, I’ll start a torque spec thread and just add everything from Bentley tomorrow when I get a minute.
