So he claims he put 2 cars on a manual M3 which I think is totally feasible but then says he races his buddies new SRT8 Jeep and claims it kept up better than the M3.
Mind you a stock M3 is a 113/114 trap car, the RS5 from data I’ve seen so far should be in the 111 range and now a 103 trap jeep is closer than 2 cars…make sense of that one lol…

M3 and RS5 I can imagine being a very very good race, maybe even giving the RS5 the edge; especially in the real world. But him saying that the jeep did better than the m3 makes me not think his assessment is that credible…
M3 is like the C63. They can be all over the place. I obliterated both an M3 and a C63 at the strip last April. I mean it was like 6-8 car lengths. Both guys ran mid thirteens all day, and both trapped 109-111 when I was trapping 108 (that was when I went 12.75) RWD is tough. Add in manual? Hell you can see one of them go 14.X. The M3 guy had a buddy in an S5. The guy never went faster than 14.5 all day. It was hard to watch. The 4-5 guys we were with all set personal bests that day or were within a tenth of their best ever (bangoman, boravr6, me, jspazz, turbobaby)
Also, you know what DSG is like…it’s impeccable. The guy in the RS5 is getting 100% out of his car on every run. the guy in the Jeep is too since it’s an automatic.
The guy in the M3 could be like mickf29 who took his 370 whp RS4 and went 13.0 @ 109 before JHM gave him launch control.

Yeah good points, I was just under the impression they went off a roll which is why I was so confused as to how he can say the Jeep did better than the M3 lol… Either way, that’s why I love Audi, 100% performance 90% of the time as you said once. Best way to sum it up… I hope we see some more RS5 data soon, might end up with one in my driveway in a few years hopefully…

I think the guy could DEFINITELY have whipped on the M3 if the M3 guy sucked at shifting. Same goes for the truck…it could definitely have fared better than the M3 if the M3 guy sucked.
from a roll you still have to shift gears once or twice.
the M3 generally FLIES from a roll though. I have never seen an RS5 vs M3 race though. that would be cool. Did top gear do it when they tested that RS5 with the ugly wheels?

Two tuned 335’s at the track the other day…both were in the 14’s all night. Those cars should be killing me…even stock.
he said things in the thread that don’t make sense, however we must remember neither of us have RS5 seat time. I am basing my recollections on races I’ve had with E9X M3s of all sorts (stock, tuned, full bolt ons). The m3 always pulled slightly on my RS4 if we were at speed.
The RS5 is quite a bit quicker than an RS4 we must remember. It’s not just ‘fail it’s the same engine waaaah’. They made a number of improvements, and the transmission means you’re deadly accurate and 7 speeds means you’re always in the powerband.

Not sure what a 335ia Cobb is since a search pretty much just shows a ton of videos without info. assuming ~400hp? tune + upgraded intercooler? Cobb website doesn’t have too many mods listed
E63 AMG makes sense since its a low 12s car (stock)
Yeah like Saki said, the M3 is a monster from a roll. The jeep is a lard ass from a roll. It’s great from a dig but from a roll the jeep is super slow.

Hey guys - I just stumbled onto this post. That was me in the AZ post.
I have no bias towards BMW vs. Jeep, but obviously I do towards Audi.
However, what I said over there was true.
M3 - stock
Second gear pull with no shift up to third for either car, the rs5 is a car length ahead.
Third gear pull with no shift in between, same result.
There is zero doubt in my mind the RS5 is faster. I don’t care what magazines say.
Jeep - with exhaust and intake
Off the line using launch control on both cars, the Rs5 is only a hair faster. He used his in car timer for 0-60 and he clocked 4.3 so that put my car around 4.1. How accurate those in car gadgets are is obviously up to speculation. Once we hit about 80 and start to top second gear, the Rs5 gains speed.
I feel more confident racing an M3 than one of those jeeps. Those things are WAY underrated by magazine tests. Go race one and find out for yourself - its a shitty feeling lol

As I posted above, I believe your post. The M3 does tend to do very well up top, but I have zero experience with the RS5, only my RS4.
Whereabouts are you located? Post some pics of the car while you’re at it! Love RS5s. Guy across the street just bought one.
