The high level kits have the controller tied into the wastegate solenoid so that if anything happened it would open the wastegate fully and cut boost. Meth is kind of a “set it and forget it” thing though. It doesn’t really get messed with that much. Also, to blow the engine would require a very aggressive tune that would push the motor outside the normal range of it being able to compensate. I haven’t personally seen any failures from the meth just dying out

Interesting! Looking at trends of every car for the past 10 years it usually takes about 5 years for the car to start having a place that can write custom files, not just tweak small things. It’d be exciting to hear otherwise
every car? EPL was offering custom tunes on the B7 RS4 as of 2010, 3 years after the RS4 started being sold. How worthwhile that endeavour was can be debated but it was out there.
The B6/7 S4 guys (for the most part) never bothered with custom tunes because it became pretty clear that whether your tune is OTS or custom…if the tuner doesn’t know what to do with an NA car its not going to matter.
The A4 scene…I guess you’d be able to comment, but moving on to the B8 S4 and considering primetime’s experience with APR, I’d say a custom tune isn’t so far from reality. Again…whether its worthwhile vs. their OTS tune will be another story.
APR has never really offered custom tunes so this would be new news. EPL has been a cool option because they are usually ahead of the times but with the exception of them pretty much everything is off the shelf for a number of years. I would certainly consider JHM a custom tuner because they have made tunes for S/C, turbo, nitrous, etc and it was awhile before they were on the scene
