Hi, from South Africa

Good advice from prime time. In case our new member doesn’t know, primetime has more dragstrip experience in the b8 s4 than the next ten guys, combined. And he’s FAST. Listen to him!

PT any comment on his tire pressure? 38 and 34 psi f/r sounds a bit higher than what you’ve mentioned. Conditionally dependant of course.

Re the lights, only If you care about RT that is. I would focus more on getting a good launch than winning any races as long as you’re not going to get eliminated from a bracket

+1 on prime time being the man to listen to for the b8 at the strip. And judging the rest of his garage, any car really

Very nice intro and great car!

You’re DOING what I WANT to be doing…

I have my RS5 grill but waiting for decent weather/timing to perform the install.

Tracks don’t open here until end of Feb or early March. Jealous!

Good times BTW!

Saki/bango, thanks guys! As for tire pressure… Would like to understand some things better…

I8AGTI, Do they prep the track at all with anything? How are the conditions temp, humidity and bp wise? What kind of 60’s are you cutting now? Also, please don’t take this the wrong way because I’m sure you’re a good driver but I would use two hands on the wheel when drag racing, not only for the safety factor it’s easier to hold a tight straight line which improves your ET…

They prepped the track for the Pro’s earlier on in the day.
During the MSA event earlier in the day u get slips, for the Street 2 Strip I entered they just read the times and exit speed. I am getting a Vbox next month, so I’ll get some results.

As for the one handed business, I only noticed it afterwards

The Audi club in Cape Town had a Breakfast run on Sunday.
We have 5 mountain passes through on a 200 km stretch of road. One of our favorite things to do along the way is to do a run through one of the tunnels and do some video clips. The V8 boys put us all to shame
Here’s a clip when doing warp speed

Eventually got around to fit the hardware today.

Ripped the front end off, removed the Supercharger Pulley and put the smaller unit on. Upgraded the Cooling system on the Supercharger by installing the APR CPS kit.

The old cooler can be seen just below the crash bar.

New cooler being fitted to crash bar.

Painted the front black to make it less visible.

Supercharger pulley comes here. Had to heat it in the oven at 180 deg c for 30 min. Slipped on so easy. Forgot to take pics of the pulley.

All closed up and waiting for Software.

  1. how the hell did I miss that line up of Audis above?? Awesome. Any other video of the cars going through, say filmed from outside standing on the other side?

  2. why are your engine covers red. Did you do that? Looks cool.

Hehe. Here are some more clips. Old tunnel that seldomly gets used as the new road has a 3.9 km tunnel going through the mountain. We drove through it on the way back. Forgot to take vids. The V8’s flooded the tunnel with their 8 cylinder sound track.

I used Plastidip on the engine covers. Just wanted to see what it would like like.
I’ll do a more permanent thing when I get a gap.

nice

in that first video the B8 RS4 at 2:13 and the RS3 at 2:47 sounded awesome. That 5 cylinder sound is so good.

you should line up a race with that RS4. Should be close.

I got the car mapped today. Wow ! Pulls hard on top end.
Took a quick vid on my way back home. My m8 has my Vbox. I’ll do some tests this weekend.
Car pulls 0 deg timing.

what map did you get?

Local Tuning company called Evolution Performance
http://www.evoperformance.co.za

I’ll put it on the rollers tomoz if I get a chance.
Quicker at the bottom, but more noticeable past 5000 rpm. All in all, very happy.

I need to get Vagcom soon and do some logs. He set the map to run on pump fuel. Our 95 Octane.

On Saturday the local Subaru guys have a dyno day, so I’ll add some Octane booster and do another run to see if it makes a difference.

I took 2 vids with my phone, the 1st run it red lines in all the gears.
On 2nd run ( the vid ) u see it spins a bit at 3000 rpm and then short shifts at end of 1st gear. The rest of the gears hit red line.

The short shift run was quicker.
I had a gear tronic box in a previous vehicle, and short shifting netted me some good times over the 1/4 mile.
Might look into it a bit more.

I used a vid editing program to work out time. This is what i got. Will do Vbox this weekend.

Did a Vbox test on my way to Dyno this morning.

Car is such a pleasure to drive now.

Some engine bling. R8 oil cap

http://i17.photobucket.com/albums/b89/DirkieUys/IMAG1250_zps0ffd344d.jpg

Had some fun on the track today. Ran a personal best of 12.294

They don’t seem to print tickets like you guys post.
Took a screenshot of my results.
The official results will be posted on the tracks website in a week. Never the less, I had a blast.

One car popped its gearbox and spilt oil on the track bite, hence the 2 shitty passes.
28 deg C ambient temp.
I only have a daily tune, using 95 Ron
Stock 18" wheels

http://i17.photobucket.com/albums/b89/DirkieUys/IMAG1471_zpsd3c2b355.jpg

Are those the runs in the order you ran? If so, why did the car slow down? Was it heat soaked?

I played with tyre pressures. Deflated them.

APR pulley and local tune…Not the apr tune.

I have the IBF pulley on.
Intake and CPS kit is APR. I still have the APR exhaust, but I preferd the Milltek unit.

http://i17.photobucket.com/albums/b89/DirkieUys/IMAG0583_zps1e0810f7.jpg

The main reason I dont have APR software on is that the main local APR distrubutor is a plonker.
Maybe one day :-\
