High mileage

Hi guys,

Looking for some input on what to do with my 07 RS4. I’ve taken care of my car for the past 4.5 years of ownership and have enjoyed all of the km’s put on her.

So now I’m approaching 200k and I’m ready to pull the trigger on 034 Motor, Torque, and Transmission mounts. Stepping up with the JHM 1R/LWFW. (should I also do a new OEM Crank Sensor from JHM while doing this?).

Recently kept getting the P0431 code, cleared it, but comes back after a few starts (I haven’t found a concrete solution to this, should I stay OEM and what would that consist of? Or would JHM piggies solve this?)

What else do you guys think I should tackle while it’s in for 200k other than what I have above? Alt Belt? CPacks, Plugs? New type of oil? Any advice would be appreciated.

Some good questions are what we’re the last maintained items you did and when. That will help us put together a big list for you. The cat code would be sorted out with piggies and a Jhm tune. The clutch is a great idea and is one of the best choices.

So what I’ve done was plugs, air filter about 60k ago.

Carbon clean, coolant flush, power steering, trans fluid, diff fluid at 115k.

Oil changes every 7-8k. Passenger HPFP 10k ago, potentiometer bank 2 5k ago.

I think I’ve done my best to keep her running in top shape and I’m sure she’s got a lot more to go. Hopefully that gives you guys a better picture.

Nice to know you made it to 200k. I’m at 148,xxx currently. What’s your oil consumption like?

I do carbon cleanings once a year…23-25k miles roughly, also change the plugs, fuel filter, and do oil changes every 3k miles (4k during winter).

I changed my hpfp’s and lpfp(in the tank) at 115k for getting misfires.

Tranny and rear diff I flush once every two years. It’s about $100 with motul gear 300 gl4/gl5 rated fluid.

Brake fluid flush once every 2 years as well.

May I ask, what’s your oil consumption like? .

I bet he’s at 120,000 miles…200k kms.

Ha! Thanks Saki, answered it! This motor is just awesome to hear roaring up to 8k rpm.

As for oil consumption, I’ve noticed that the oil light chimes at me around 5-6k after a change. How about you guys?

you’re still the champ of high mileage RS4s (that we know of…someone must have more)

Mine comes on about 1k miles after a change and after that too.

What happen to the red rs4 that had the record nor a while. That had a ton of miles didn’t it.

Also I assume rs4 oil consumption is at about 1 quart every 3 k or so

^ That’s about right. First couple of oil changes (castrol), I used about 1 to 1.5 qt/3000 miles. Last three oil changes (Mobil 1), I’ve added 1 qt or less.

It got sold. The owner bought an M3 and found it was useless (RWD) . Then he bought a B8 S4 which he liked and kept for a while. Then he bought a Lexus IS-F which he sold after a few months. Now he drives a 4.2 FSI S5

That’s all since 2012.

Wow OK then. Do we know the new owner or anything about the car since the sale.
